LIDE, CLAYTON - age 80, a longtime resident of Oliver Springs, and formerly
of Darlington, South Carolina, went home to be with the Lord Thursday,
September 11, 2003 at Briarcliff Health Care Center of Oak Ridge. Mr. Lide was retired
from Union Carbide as a materials handler from the X-10 Plant. He was an
active member of Little Leaf Baptist Church in Oliver Springs. He served the
church as chairman of the Trustee Board and he was also a member of the church
choir. Mr. Lide was instrumental in overseeing the construction of the present
Little Leaf Baptist Church building. He was active in the Knoxville District
Baptist Association. Survivors: wife, Catheline Griffin Lide of Oliver Springs;
sons, David Frits, Russell Fritts; daughters, Cherry Ivy, Gloria Porch; 6
grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren. In addition, Mr. Lide has 3 sisters, 3
sisters-in-law, a brother-in-law, nieces and nephews, and a host of friends and
extended family members. Funeral services will be held Sunday, September 14, 2003
at Little Leaf Baptist Church of Oliver Springs at 1:30 p.m., with Elder Thomas
Dews officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday, September 13,
2003, between the hours of 5:00 and 7:00 p.m. at Sharp Funeral Home. Burial will
be in South Carolina. Sharp Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
