Rites Today For Mrs. Longmire Former Resident
Mrs. Phair( Lavica) Longmire, 81, daughter of pioneer settles of Anderson County, died in a Columbia,S.C. hospital on Tuesday. Mrs. Longmire was a daughter of the late Samuel and Martha Hugh Worthington of Andersonville. She was reared near Norris and lived in Beech Grove for a number of years. Her late husband, a retired coal miner, owned a farm in Dutch Valley and upon his death, Mrs. Longmire went to South Carolina and made her home with her daughter, Mrs. John T. Cubbage of Dalzell,S.C. She was a member of Island Home Baptist Church. Mrs. Longmire is survived by her daughter, Mrs. John Cubbage of Delzell,S.C., sisters, Mrs. John Hall, Clinton and Mrs. Finley Patterson, Walkerton,Ind., brothers, P.H., J.H., R.F. and Bruce Worthington, all of Clinton, seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Funeral services were to be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday at the Martin Funeral Home Chapel in Clinton with the Rev.W.H. Beets conducting services. Burial was to be in the Leach Cemetery,Lake City.
