Annie Phillips Lloyd, 94, of Oliver Springs died Tuesday,
April 3, 1990 in the Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. A
native of New River, Mrs Lloyd was the daughter of the late Tom
and Elizabeth Kennedy Phillips and a member of Laurel Grove
Baptist Church of Briceville. She had enjoyed raising flowers and
sewing. Mrs Phillips is survived by her husband; Marley Lloyd;
three daughters, Sylvia Dean Bovington of Dayton, Ohio, and Mae
(Mrs Matthew) Harness and Joyce (Mrs Jack) West, both of Oliver
Springs; two sons and their wives, Coy and Minnie Byrge of Petros
and Roy and Neva Cantrell of Briceville; four brothers, Sam Phillips
of Caryville, Ike Phillips of Indiana, John Phillips of Lake City, and
Ethel Phillips of Dutch Valley; 21 grandchildren; and several great
-grandchildren and great great grandchildren. The funeral will be at
2 PM Friday, April 6 in Laurel Grove Baptist Church with the Rev
Edwin Phillips officiating. The body will lie in state an hour before
the service. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will
receive friends from 6 to 9 tonight, April 5 at Martin Lake City
Funeral Home.

and by his brother, Ethel Phillips of Clinton. The funeral will be held
at 11 AM Thursday, Nov 4, at Red Ash Baptist Church in Caryville
with the Rev Don Allen officiating. Burial will follow at Beechfork
Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight, Nov
3, at Cox-Martin Funeral Home in Lake City.

Mary Phillips, 93, of Caryville, died Friday, November 10, 1995
at the Lake City Healthcare Center. She was a member of Bethel Baptist
Church. She was preceded in death by her first husband; Jake Kennedy;
and sons, John and Lonzo Kennedy; and two infant sons. She is survived
by her husband; Sam Phillips of Caryville; sons, Lewis Kennedy of Indiana,
Clyde Kennedy of IN, Robert Kennedy of Jacksboro, Everette Kennedy
of Lake City, and Leroy Kennedy of LaFollette; daughters, Tensie Nelson
and Dolla Phillips, both of Lake City, and Martha Thrasher of KY; 35
grandchildren; 46 great grandchildren; and 12 great great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday, November 12 in the chapel of
Martin Funeral Home of Lake City with Rev Edwin Phillips and Rev
Clyde Ellison officiating. Interment followed in the Beech Fork Cemetery
in Caryville. Martin Funeral Home was in charge of services.

The Rev Link Phillips, 68, of the Beech Fork community,
Caryville Rt 1, died at 7 AM Tuesday at Oak Ridge Hospital of heart
disease and pneumonia. He was a Baptist minister and served as pastor
at several Anderson and Campbell County churches. Before retiring,
he was pastor at Grave's Gap Church. Mr Phillips was a member of
Fellowship Baptist Church at Beech Fork. He enjoyed farming. He
was a native of Campbell County. Survivors include his wife; Mrs
Stella Overton Phillips; three sons, Coy E Phillips of Dunkirk, IN,
Tommy and Larry Phillips of Caryville Rt 1; four daughters, Mrs
Glenna Tassier and Mrs Shirenia Tropes of Dunkirk, Mrs Elizabeth
Dowden of Livonia, MI, and Mrs Imogene Nighbert of Vasper; five
brothers, Ethel Phillips of Clinton Rt 5, Johnny and Sam Phillips of
Caryville, Jessie Phillips of Rosedale, and Ike Phillips of College
Corner, Ohio; two sisters, Mrs Alice Hale of Caryville, and Mrs Ann
Lloyd of Oliver Springs; 20 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services are to be held at 2 PM Thursday (today) at Fellowship
Baptist Church with the Rev Albert Seiber officiating. Burial is to be
in Phillips Cemetery.

Stella Phillips, age 91, of Caryville (the New River community)
died Friday, Feb 6, 2004 at St Mary's Medical Center of Campbell County.
She was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church. She loved her family and
friends and served them faithfully. She was preceded in death by husband;
Link Phillips; daughters, Hazel Jones, Glenna McDowell, and Elizabeth
Dowden; sons, Litton and Lawrence Phillips; three grandchildren;
one sister; and four brothers. Survivors: daughters; Ima Jean Nighbert
and husband, Eddie of Vasper, Sherenia Shirrell of Caryville; sons, Coy
Phillips of Indiana, Larry Joe Phillips and wife, Bernice of Clinton,
Tommy Phillips and wife, Linda of Caryville; brother, J D Overton
and wife, Edith of Wartburg; 18 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren;
28 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
The family received friends from 6-8 PM Sunday, Feb 8, 2004 at
Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Lake City with the funeral service
following at 8 PM in the chapel with the Rev Don Daugherty and
Brother Lynn Byrge officaiting. Interment was at 1 PM Monday,
Feb 9, 2004 at the Phillips Cemetery in New River. Holley-Gamble
Funeral Home in Lake City in charge of arrangements.

May 30, 2005 at the Harriman Health and Rehab Center in Harriman.
The daughter of Sherd and Melisse Lowe McGhee, she was born May
3, 1908 in Campbell County and lived many years in New River. She
moved to this area over 54 years ago. Mrs Phillips was a member of
Free Communion Baptist Church in New River. In addition to her
parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; Jesse Phillips;
her daughter, Gladys Phillips; two sons, Carlos Phillips and
Paul McGhee; her brother, Thomas McGhee; and three sisters, Roxie,
Ollie, and Odessa. She is survived by three daughters; Vaudie Zeh
and husband, Albert, of Englewood, FL, Janice Daugherty of Harriman,
and Virginia Ann Kozel and husband, Glenn, of Solon, Ohio; her brother,
Pitney McGhee of Lake City; and by a host of grandchildren, great
grandchildren, friends, and extended family members. The funeral
will be held at 8 PM Thursday, June 2, 2005 in the chapel of Sharp
Funeral Home in Oliver Springs with the Rev Don Daugherty officiating.
The graveside service and burial will be held at 11 AM Friday, June 3
at Grave Hill Cemetery in New River. The family will receive friends
from 6 to 8 PM Thursday at the funeral home. Sharp Funeral Home in
Oliver Springs is in charge of arrangements.
