Thanks for responding, Pamela. I'm a descendant of Kedar Nutt and Sarah (Sallie) Simmons thru their dau. Sarah. She was my grandmother's grandmother. I had thought for some time that Sarah was daughter of Kedar but only recently found papers that verified it. I'd love to have copies of anything you have on the Nutt or Simmons line. I was told by a Simmons researcher that Sarah was probably daughter of Soloman Simmons but have nothing to verify that.
Kedar Nutt (ca 1780 - after 1860) was from Wake Co NC and he and Sarah Simmons were married there 15 Nov 1813. Kedar was son of Wm. Nutt and Sarah Hendon. Wm. died in 1808 and by will left most of his money and property to care for several minor children. By then Kedar was an adult. By 1820 Kedar was in Giles Co TN and was still there in 1830. By 1833 he was in Carroll Co TN. By 1840 his bro. James and his wife, Grisselle Baucom, are in Carroll Co and living near Kedar and Sarah. On the 1850 censes for Carroll Kedar is shown as Rider Nutt. On 1860 census he is again Kedar and was 80 yrs old and a farmer. His wife, Sallie was 70 yrs and they lived with two dau. Mary D. (35) and Harriett C. (30).
Since Kedar and Sarah Simmons were married in Wake Co NC, I've assumed that she was also from there but I've not been able to research much in Wake as of yet. It's on my 'to do' list (along with enough other things to keep me busy until I'm at least 175 yrs old).
