Hi,
I'm still in search of parents of William Martin, b. 1831, Hawkins Co., TN.
In looking for them, I have put together a whole Martin world! This line
was in Claiborne Co., also in Clay Co., KY, and back to Claiborne Co. I'd
like any scrap of information for any of them, and will gladly share further
generations if I have them. I do have several earlier generations, siblings,
marriages, etc. Salathiel's brothers, Obediah and Joseph were also Rev. War
vets. I have some information for both of them.

Surry Co., NC, in 1779. He was 6' 9" tall. He served as captain in Col.
Armstrong's regiment at Guilford Courthouse and Kings Mountain. He marched
from Surry Courthouse and joined General Green a few days before the Battle
of Kings Mountain. He married Mary Cook on Apr. 23, 1782, in Surry County,
NC. File includes Bible record showing Thomas Martin, b. Feb. 29, 1785, and
other children. Affidavit of David Lawson, 1851. Lawson was born in 1765 in
Amherst County, VA, and had since infancy known Salathiel Martin. Salathiel
's widow Mary was in Claiborne Co., TN, on Feb. 27, 1845.
Isaac Austill bought 132 acres (in the Yadkin Valley, Surry County, NC., at
Fox Knobs on Deep Creek from Salathiel Martin, on 6 Aug, 1786.
Augusta Co., VA, 27 Sept 1785. Salathiel Martin, son and heir of David

deceased, of Rowan Co., NC, to John Dickenson. Delivered to Nathaniel
Crawford by Dickinson's order. Release of mortgage.
Deed 19 Oct 1795, by Joseph Martin of Henry Co. to Salathiel and Obadiah
Martin of Surry Co., NC, conveys 50 acres in Lee Co. recorded at District
Court at Washington Court House, 3 may 1796.
9 Aug 1784 Salathiel Martin deeded 250 ac. N. side of Yadkin River to Obediah
Martin "for natural love Salathiel hath for Obed."
13 May 1788, Salathiel Martin sold property that was "part of 500 acre grant
to David Martin, now dead, and to Salathiel Martin as heir at law."

I'd love any little piece of information that adds to--or corrects--any of
the above! I have found that the lines where we accomplish the most are also
where we share not only what we know, but what we suspect! All of us have
our own little unique piece of the puzzle. And I can't wait to start looking
for a NEW set of grandparents. These have about worn me out!

What I would most like to know, is what was Thomas Martin's wife Sarah A.'s
maiden name, and who were his other children. This is where I suspect my
William may fit in. I have traced Thomas to Estill Co., KY, have land and
other transaction records from there, and will gladly share all of them.

Charla and I have known we were Williams cousins for several months. Her
post today confirms we are also Cupp cousins. I hope that I find some new
cousins from this, and that you find some new cousins, too.
