Claiborne County rootsweb subscribers,

I am serializing and posting information on the descendants of Jacob and
Sylvia "Sibby" Breeding Cupp that I have been collecting over the years.
I think information on their ancestors has already posted and has been
available through other sources.

If you are descended from Jacob and Sylvia you should be able to connect
your family into this list (and also find some of your Cupp cousins). I
only have four descendants that I know with any real certainty that are
children of Jacob and Sylvia; Abigail (unmarried), Elizabeth m. George
Ford, Catherine m. Henry Meyers, and Peggy m. Samuel Cloud. On other
ther children who are credited to Jacob and Sylvia I would appreciate
receiving source information.

I also have a file on Ransom Cupp that will be posting later and
separately. Ransom is probably a son of Jacob and Sylvia and some
reseachers are listing him that way. However, I have been unable to
locate and proof of this connection.

On Daniel Cupp, who some researchers have listed as a son of Jacob and
Sylvia, I have chosen to include him as a son of Abigail. (Source: P. G.
Fulkerson papers) "Chas son of Abby was killed during the Civil War by
Confederates".

A separate posting will also be done on Mary "Polly" Cupp, daughter of
Abigail, who married Stephen Drummonds.

Jacob and Sylvia Breeding Cupp

P. G. Fulkerson's Volume of Old Settlers (unpublished) list Jacob Cupp with four daughters. However there are
more children that Mr. Fulkerson did not list. Family information on Jacob and Sylvia's children including Abigail
"Abby", Catherine, "Katie", Elizabeth, and Margaret "Peggy" is given below.
I. ABIGAIL "ABBY" CUPP (b. c1800, VA). Abby apparently never married, however she had at least six
children (known). All of the children took the name Cupp.
A. CHARLES CUPP (b. c1816, TN, d. 1864, killed by confederate soldiers during the civil war) m. to
ELIZABETH OWSLEY (b. c1810, TN) daughter of Stephen and Rhoda Johnson Owsley. It is said
that Charles and Elizabeth moved to Kentucky, however, Elizabeth was living in Claiborne County
when the 1870 census was taken.

marriage. Claiborne County marriage records show Franky J. Presley marring J. W. A. Collings on
November 24, 1860. In the 1860 census Frankie was listed living with Elizabeth Presley (believed to
be her mother).
