LIZZIE LIFORD
Lizzie Liford, age 87, of New Tazewell, was born May 17, 1915 and passed
away November 15, 2002 at the Claiborne County Hospital.
She was a member of Sugar Grove Baptist Church for over 73 years and
retired from the Dietary Department at Claiborne County Hospital. She
was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Liford; daughter, Lorena
Brantley; son-in-law. J.M. Wells.
Survivors include her daughter. Vicie Wells of New Tazewell; sons and
daughters-in-law: Floyd and Irene Liford of New Tazewell, Clifford and
Peggy Liford of Maynardville, George and Bonnie Liford of Knoxville: 2
granddaughters: 3 grandsons: 7 great grandchildren; 4 step great
grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Monday, November 18 at the Claibome
Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jimmy Poore. Rev. Carson Janeway and Rev.
Brian Liford officiating. Music by the Liberty Quartet. Burial in the
Irish Memorial Gardens in Tazewell.
Pallbearers: Brian Liford, Joe Liford, Glen Liford, Shannon Greene, Dale
Widner and Stacey Crawford. Honorary pallbearers:
Bill Walker, Tony Walker and Clay Butcher .

JOHN HENRY NASH
John Henry Nash, age 64, of Middlesboro, Ky., was born December 13, 1937
in Middlesboro and passed away November 11, 2002 at his home.
He was a coal miner, factory worker and retired from the Middlesboro
Sanitation Department. He was preceded in death by his parents: Clyde
and Dosha Nash; sister, Nadine Nash Wilson.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Tilda Owens Nash; son, Brad Nash
and fiancee, Jan Fitzwater all of Middlesboro, Ky.; 2 daughters: Sue
Nash Bundren and husband, Gary, Brenda Nash Bundren and husband, Larry
all of Tazewell; grandchildren: Ashley and Brittany Bundren of Tazewell,
Angelina and Kimber Nash of Middlesboro, Ky.; sisters: Mary Nash Bentley
of Morristown, Dinah Kintz of Ft. Wayne, In.; brothers: Chester Nash and
wife, Nora, Ott Nash and wife, Jackie both of Middlesboro, Ky., Billy
Nash and wife, Joyce of Morristown, Robert Nash of Middlesboro, Ky.;
special aunt, Ruth Melton; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Thursday, November 14 at the Creech
Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mitchell Nash and Rev. William Partin
officiating. Music by Barbara Hatfield. Burial in West Cemetery,
Tazewell.

RUBY LEE JOHNS
Ruby Lee Johns, age 75, of Tazewell. was born August 3. 1927 and passed
away on November 15,2002 at Claiborne County Hospital.
She was a member of Ida Chapel in Sneedville. She was preceded in death
by her husband, Porter Johns: brother. Junior Barnard of Maryland;
son-in-Iaw, Clifford Moles; grandson. Allen Johns.
Survivors include her daughters: Mrs. Joe (Sue) James and Margie Moles;
son and daughter-in-law: Ed and Carolyn Johns all of Tazewell; sister
and brother-in-law: Zelma and L.H. Jones of Sneedville; grandchildren:
Lynn James, Sandy Moles Lowe, Sherrie
Moles, Melissa Ann Johns Goins and Karen Reece; great grandchildren:
Kayla, Matthew and Benjamin Johns, Justin James. Samantha and Christy
Goins.
Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Monday. November 18 at Coffey Funeral
Home with Rev. Tommy Russell and Rev. Joe James officiating. Songs by
C.J. and Joann Dalton. Clifford and Ann Cook. Swann Creek Quartet.
Burial in Cook Cemetery at Pleasant Point.

JIM PARTIN
Jim Partin, age 41, of New Tazewell, was born December 29. 1960 and
passed away November 17, 2002 at Blount Memorial Hospital.
He was a member of Straight Creek Baptist Church and retired from
Claiborne County Hospital due to illness. He was preceded in death by
his father, Earl Partin.
Survivors include his mother, Violet Partin of Tazewell; wife. Christene
Partin of New Tazewell; son, Dustin Partin of New Tazewell;
stepchildren: Dale Collinsworth and wife, Diane of New Tazewell, Melissa
Wright and husband, Jimmy of New Tazewell; father-in-law and mother-in-
law: Marie and Fred Hopper of New Tazewell; brother , William Partin of
Tazewell; sisters: Sandy Rush and husband, Gary of Tazewell, Carolyn
Mayes and husband, Wendall of Luttrell; host of nieces, nephews, other
relatives and friends. Funeral services were held
2 p.m. Tuesday, November 19 in Claiborne Funeral Home Chaple with Rev.
Jimmy Poore and Rev. Larry Beeler offciatlng. Music by the Liberty
Quartet. Burial in the Robinson Cemetery , New Tazewell. .
Pallbearers: Jimmy Wright, Condie Poore, Bill Howard, Lon Ramsey, Gary
Rush and Jeff Widner.

MARY A. BUCHANAN
Mary A. Buchanan, age 90, of Tazewell, was born December 28, 1911 and
passed away November 5, 2002 at her home.
Mary was a member of Youngs Chapel Missionary Baptist Church and taught
Sunday School for several years. She was preceded in death by her
husband, William Vernon Buchanan; father and mother: Thomas E. and Sudie
Noe Lester; sister, Ida Goins; brothers: Lon, Robert, Clarence, Tommy
and Glen Lester.
Survivors include her son, Alvin (Cotton) Buchanan; daughters: Alma
Buchanan of the home, Mrs. Stan (Ellene) Washam of Maynardville;
grandchildren: Chris and wife, Lisa Washam of Knoxville, Blake Washam of
Maynardville, Robin and husband, Jerry Scott of Maynardville, Tracy and

passed away November 17, 2002 at her home. She was a member of Riley
Memorial Baptist Church and a past member of Cedar Fork Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband. Lewis Dean; parents: Boston
and Daisy Barnard Earl; several brothers and sisters.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law: Paul and Bobbie Dean of
Tazewell; sister, Christine Patterson of Chattanooga; several nieces,
nephews, host of other relatives and friends; special friends: Hettie
McDaniel and Margie Moles.

Rev. Roy Sweet, age 76, of New Tazewell, was born April 29, 1926 and
passed away November 16, 2002 at Clalbome County Hospital.
He was a member of Carr's Branch Church and was a veteran of WWll. He
was preceded in death by his parents: John and Sally Stansberry Sweet; 2
infant children: Laura Diane and Daniel Ray Sweet; brothers: Claude,
James "Cotton" and Troy Sweet; sisters: Jean Mason, Laura and Betty
Sweet; daughter-in-law. Lisa Sweet.
Survivors Include hls wife of 51 years. Mildred Holt Sweet; sons and
daughters-in-law: Johnny Dale and Elphida Sweet both of New Tazewell,
Michael Roy and Sherri Sweet of Tazewell, Denny and Tammy Sweet of
Rogersville; daughter and son-in-law: Connie Lynn and Dennis Gilbert of
New Tazewell; 11 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; brother, Woodrow
Sweet of New Tazewell; sister, Joyce Lyttle; stepmother, Thelma Stockton

HELEN M. TURNER
Helen M. Turner, age 74, of Monroe, Mi., was born August 6, 1928 in
Monroe and passed away at Mercy Memorial Hospital.
She married General E. Turner on April 7, 1945 in Middlesboro, Ky. She
was a Nurses Aide at Beach Nursing Home for 15 years and also Mercy
Memorial Hospital, where she retired from in June 1988. She was preceded
in death by her parents: Hazel and Dollie (Campbell) Poore.
Survivors include her husband. General E. Turner; son, Dallas E. (Lynn)
Turner of Traverse City, Mi. ; sister, Charlotte (Boyd) Bailey of
Tazewell; 3 grandchildren: Bryce (Kristi) Turner, Marcy Turner, and
Lance Turner .
Funeral Services were held I p.m Tuesday, November 12 at the Earle
Little Funeral Home Funeral Home With Rev. Kathy R. Charlefour of East
Raisinville Frenchtown United Methodist Church. Memorials may be made to
East Raisinville Frenchtown United Methodist Church. Earle Little

MAURINE MIRACLE WILLIAMS
Maurine Miracle Williams, age 79, of Ewing, Va., was born August 23,
1923 and passed away November 16, 2002.
She was a member of the Gibson Station Primitive Baptist Church and
Eastern Star Lodge. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles
(Metz) Williams; parents: James and Mary Denny Williams; son, Michael;
grandson, Demetri; 7 brothers and sisters.
Survivors include her son and wives: Fred and Brenda Williams of
Adairsville, Ga., Norman and Karen Williams of Ewing, Va.; brother,
Ernest Miracle of Shawanee; sister, Bernice Harlowe of Knoxville; 6
grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held 8 p.m. Sunday, November 17 at Reece Valley
Chapel with Elder Spurgeon Thompson officiating. Music by Claude and
Shirley Sandifur. Graveside services were held 11 a.m. Monday, November
18 in Southern Cemetery.
Pallbearers: Lamar Williams, Rory Williams, Rob Williams, Travis

Zella L. Edwards Wells, age 86. formally of Sharps Chapel, passed away
November 11, 2002 in Krioxville.
Zella was of the Baptist faith and a member of Little Barren Bapttst
Church. She was preceded in death by her husbands: Ralph J. Edwards and
Rome Wells: granddaughter, Karen R. Robertson.
Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law: Lt. Col. retired United
States Air Force Donald H. and Gaynelle Edwards of Arlington, Tx. ,
Harold L. and Ann Edwards of Knoxville, grandchildren: Coleen D. Davis
of Bedford, Tx., Christopher L. and wife, Terrie Edwards of Nineveh, In.
and Kimberly L. and husband, Lt. Paul D. Phillips United States Navy of
