CORNIE WEBB YOAKUM CARPENTER
Commie Webb Yoakum Carpenter, age 88, of Harrogate, was born July 16,
1914 and passed away January 23, 2003 at the home of her daughter in
Harrogate.
She was a life long resident of Cumberland Gap. She professed faith in
God at the early age of 13 and was a member of Straight Creek Baptist
Church. She was former Register of Deeds of Claiborne County . She was
preceded in death by her husbands: Grover Carl Yoakum and George
Carpenter; father. Preston Webb: mother. Frances Sproles Webb; sisters:
Lizzie Ayers, Ola Warf, Laura Warf, Sidney Dacus, Ruby Fowler, Mariah
Neikirk and Mary Johnson; brothers: Jim Webb. Bob Webb, Carlie Webb;
granddaughter, Brenda Brantley: grandson. Jaylynn Yoakum.
Survivors include her daughters and husbands: Patricia and Ray Dummitt
of Harrogate. Faye and Ray Crigger of Tiprell, Frances and Joe Chavis of
Michigan: sons and wives: Carl Wayne and Barbara Yoakum of New Tazewell,
Cyril and Patsy Yoakum of Forge Ridge, Paul Martin and Tammy Yoakum of
North Carolina; 18 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; a host of
friends and other family.
Funeral services were held 10 a.m. Monday, January 27 in the Coffey
Funeral Hbme Chapel in Harrogate with Rev. Jimmy Poore and Johnny Wayne
Bolinger oficiating. Burial in Yoakum Cemetery.
Pallbearers: Preston Yoakum, David Brantley, Walter Gains, Marvin Rose,
Johnny
Wayne Bolinger, Joe Chavis, Wayne Heeler. Honorary pallbearers: Mack

Martha Cook Davis, age 83, of Sneedville, passed away January 21, 2003.
She was a member of Howards Quarter Baptist Church. She was preceded in
death by her husband, Claude Davis; son, Alvin Davis; parents: John and
Rose Cook.
Survivors include her son, John Davis; grandsons: Rev. Sonny Davis and
Scott Davis all of Morristown; great grandchildren: Natasha Davis, Erika
Seal, Skylar Davis and Alison Davis; great great granddaughter, Taylor
Brooke Seal; brother, Chester Cook of Tazewell; sister, Edith Coleman of
Monroe, Mi.; special friends: Patty Johnson, April Seals, Leslie England
and Amanda Winstead all of Sneedville.

ZELDA JEAN HIPSHIRE
Zelda Jean Hipshire, age 28, of Middletown, N.Y. and formerly of Thorn
Hill, was born February 2, 1974 and passed away in New York.
She was a member of Powerhouse Church in Morristown. She was preceded in
death by her grandmother, Dixie Winstead; parents: Arch and Betty Fay
"Scrooch" Hipshire.
Survivors include her brother and sister-in-law: Clay and Barbara
Hipshire of Farris. Tx. ; sister, Dixie Hipshire of Thorn Hill; sister
and brother-in-law: Susan and David Noe of Jefferson City; nephews:
Matthew and David Allen Hipshire; aunts: Grace Kincaid of Thorn Hill,
Iris "Duce" Wilson of Strawberry Plains and Betty Winstead of
Russellville; uncle, Ray Winstead of Athens; a host of other relatives
and friends.
A Memorial service was held 8 p,m. Saturday, January 25 in the Coffey

Cleo Dalton Atkins, age 68, of Washburn, was born FeDruary 12, 1934 and
passed away January 24, 2003 at the St. Mary's Medical Center ,
She was a member of Puncheon Camp Missionary Baptist Church. She was
preceded in death by her parents: David and Frannie Dalton; husband,
William C. "Bill" Atkins: infant son, William Jr.; brothers: Lewis, Leo,
Fred, Jack, Virgil, Clifford, Wearth and Coy; sister, Bobbie McDaniel.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law: Doug and Esther Atkins of
Washburn; two grandchildren: Lori and Kevin; brothers: Dallas and David
Jr. Dalton; sister, Bethel Dalton all of Sneedville; step-sons: Curtis,
Carson, Denver , Morris, Jerry and Michael Atkins; stepdaughters: Helen
Dalton, Betty Sewell and Dorothy Rose; several step grandchildren,
nieces, nephews and other relatives.

CLAY EDWARD ERICKSON
Clay Edward Erickson, age 61, former postmaster of Harrogate, passed
away January 22, 2003 at Fort Sanders Regional Hospital.
A memorial service was held 11 a.m. Saturday, January 25. at Schubert
Funeral Home in Wartburg.

CLYDE KENNETH "KENNY" INGRAM
Clyde Kenneth "Kenny" Ingram. age 50, of Rock- ford, II., was born
October 23, 1952 in Middlesboro, Ky. and passed away January 19, 2003 at
his home.
He was the son of Clyde and Lois Bussell Ingram. He was a Veteran of the
United States Army serving from 1973 to 1975. He was employed as a
Welder by various companies in the Rockford area. He was preceded in
death by his father.
Survivors include his son, Joshua Hudson of Machesney Park; mother, Lois
Bussell Ingram of Rockford, ll.; sister, Kathy Ingram of Rockford;
brothers: Richard, Robert, Tim and Tony Ingram; several nieces and
nephews.
Funeral services were held 6 p.m. Friday, January 24 at Reece Funeral
Home with Rev. Kenneth Clendaniel officiatlng. Graveside services were
held 11 a.m, Saturday, January 25 in Red Hill Chapel Cemetery. Military

October 4, 1928 and passed away January 22, 2003 at Claibome County
Nursing Home.
She was a member of Providence Missionary Baptist Church. She was
preceded in death by her husband, Jack Mason; parents: Marshall and
Votie Whitaker; 5 sisters; 4 brothers.
Survivors include her sons: Kenneth and Janice Mason. Harold and Denise
Mason, Doug and Joyce Mason; all of Tazewell; 2 daughters: Sandra and
Johnny Herrell of Harrogate. Joetta and Jerry Smith of Tazewell; 1
sister, Billie Mason Goins of Harrogate; 12 grandchildren; 15 great
grandchildren.

Elaine Perkey, age 51, of Tazewel1, was born October 17, 1951 and passed
away January 22, 2003.
She was a member of Lone Mountain Baptist Church and of WMU of the
church. She worked as a Registered Nurse most of her life at the
Claiborne County Hospital. recently worked at Morristown Hamblen
Hospital and Home Health in the Claiborne County Health Dept. She was
preceded in death by her parents: Kenneth and Lee Chaffin Perkey.
Survivors include her daughter, Leslie Perkey of Tazewell; sister and
brother-in-law: Nancy and John Henry Myers of Pennington Gap, Va.;
nephew. John Myers of Pennington Gap. Va.; aunts: Jean Perkey Wood of
Tazewell and Lou Annie Osborne; uncle, Walton Chaffin both of
Lawrenceburg; several cousins; a host of other relatives and friends.
