Ruth Davis Akers, age 79, formerly of Powell, passed away Wednesday, January
17, 2006 at her home in New Tazewell.

She was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church in Knoxville. She was
preceded in death by parents: Hubert and Elsie Jarnigan Davis; husband: Ray F.
Akers Sr.

Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law: Beth and Gene Gray of Powell,
Cindy and Dr. Charles DeBusk of New Tazewell; sons and daughters-in-law: Tom and
Jana Akers of Nashville, Ray Jr. (Butch) and Lynn Akers of Knoxville; sister
and brother-in-law: Norma and Clyde Jones; grandchildren: Preston, Story and
Will Akers, Amy Arline and husband Tom, Lt. Andrew Hurd USMC, Abby, Bonnie,
Kyle, and Clark DeBusk.

Graveside services were Sunday, January 22 at 2 p.m. with Rev Bill Duncan
officiating.

Richard Neil Anderson, age 66, of Tazewell, formerly of San Antonio, Tx, was
born December 29, 1939 in Greeley, Co. and passed away January 17, 2006 at
Claiborne County Hospital.

He was the son of Elmer and Mary Anderson. He was a member of Faith
Deliverance Full Gospel Church. He served in the Air Force during the Vietnam Era and a
member of the American Legion.

SAMUEL NATHAN BALLTRIP







Samuel Nathan Balltrip, age 80, of Monroe, Mi was born June 23, 1925 and
passed away January 17, 2006.

He was the son of Samuel and Rowena McDonald Balltrip. He was served in the
Army from September 1943 to January 1946. He was preceded in death by parents;
daughter: Betty J. Eberline; sisters: Mary Diulio and Virginia Osment.

Survivors include wife: Rosella Balltrip; daughter: Judy D. (Gerald) Ridner;
son-in-law: Thomas (Judy) Eberline all of Monroe, Mi; three grandchildren; one
great grandchild.

Funeral services were Thursday, January 19 at 11 a.m. at Rupp Funeral Home in
Monroe, Mi with Rev. Ellen McGormley from the First Presbyterian Church
officiating. Burial in Woodland Cemetery in Monroe, Mi.

Memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Monroe, Mi or Mercy Memorial
Hospice.

Claude Bolden, age 79, of Tazewell, was born March 28, 1926 passed away on
January 19, 2006 at St. Mary's Hospital.

He was a member of Caney Valley American Christian Church. He was preceded in
death by his parents: Ephram Bolden, Minnie Bell Bolden Dishman; step-father:
Kelum Dishman; wife: Jewell Hurst Bolden; children: Sandra Bolden; twins:
Claudia and Claudette Bolden, and Michael Bolden; brothers and sisters: Ellie
McDaniel and Alice Ulmer, Clyde Bolden, Cletis Bolden; several infants brothers
and sisters.

He is survived by his daughters: Debbie (Carroll) Spencer of New Market,
Sharon (Tim) Sullivan of Harselle, Al; grandchildren: Amanda Raines, Sarah
Robinson, Natasha Sullivan, Shana Sullivan, Johnnie Sullivan, and Timberland
Sullivan; great grandchildren: Sydney, Landon and Jersey Raines, Audreana Jewel
Robinson, Jayden Robinson; brothers: Hubert (Beth) Bolden of Sherwood, Raymond
(Joyce) Bolden of Grainger County; sisters: Gladys Roberts of Sherwood, Pearl (Bob)
Hoffner of New Market, Ruby Ogle of Sevierville, Joyce (Vic) Baker of
Grainger County; sister-in-law: Opal Bolden of New Market; several nieces, nephews

Lucy Banks Doll, age 62, formerly of Speedwell, passed away January 12, 2006.

She was preceded in death by father and mother: John and Sarah Banks; son:
Bill Shiflet.

Survivors include husband: Ed Doll of Niagara Falls, Ny; daughters: Tasha
Doll, Sarah Doll, Joanna Doll; son: Allan Doll all of Niagara Falls, Ny;
granddaughter: Jacqueline; sisters: Rosa (Glen) Gargac of Perrysburg, Oh; Ruby Young
of Niagara Falls, Ny; brothers: Roger (Anna) Banks of Lima, Oh, Scott (Helen)
Holloway of Speedwell; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held at Zajac Funeral Home in Niagara Falls, Ny. Burial in the
Wilson Cemetery in Speedwell.


BILLY CHARLES ELLISON







Billy Charles Ellison, age 67, of Sneedville, was born February 4, 1938 in
Gibson Station, Va and went home to be with the Lord November 28, 2005.

Bill will be sadly missed by all who knew him. He was a good husband and a
good Christian man. He was preceded in death by his mother: Laura Ellison;
step-son: Lyndon Holt.

He is survived by his loving wife of 12 years: Barbara Burke Ellison of
Sneedville; sisters: Joyce Roback and Shirley Payne both of Tazewell, Charlene
Fields of Ohio; brothers: Gene Ellison of New Tazewell, Grant Wolfenbarger of
Knoxville; a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services were held at McNeil Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday
November 30, 2005 at 8:30 p.m. with Rev. Kester Bunch and Rev. Mitch Ewing. Music by
Josh and Tanya Greene and Alan Lamb. Burial in Brewer's Chapel Church Cemetery
in Sneedville.

Pallbearers: Willard Laws, Murphy Brooks, Boss Inman, Steve Turner, Gary
Williams and Danny Lundy. Honorary Pallbearers: Nephews.

Sleep on my darling and take your rest; I loved you, but God loved you best.
Wait for me, I will meet you soon. You were my life Bill, I miss you so much.

Terry A. Glosser, age 50, of New Tazewell, was born August 8, 1955 and passed
away January 12, 2006 at Claiborne County Hospital.

He served in the Marine Corp. He was preceded in death by his parents: Arthur
and Madonna McKeys Glosser; brother: Eddie.

Survivors include sons: Terry Allen Glosser of Knoxville, Justin Paul
Glosser, William Glosser both of Tazewell; daughters: Heather Renee Glosser, Melissa
Anne Glosser both of Kokomo, In; grandchildren: Joshua, Tabitha, Lisa, Skyla,
Tasha, Shawna, Michael; best friend: Robin Drummonds; and a host of other
relatives and friends.

Graveside service was Wednesday, January 18 at 1 p.m. at the Mountain Home
National Cemetery in Johnson City with military honors.

Grant L. Mills, age 92, of Thorn Hill, was born March 3, 1913 and went to be
with the Lord on January 21, 2006.

He was a member of Dry Valley Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his
parents: Noah and Clora Epperson Mills of Tazewell; brother: Herbert Mills of
Powell Valley; sister: Clara Lovelace of Thorn Hill; several half brothers
and sisters.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years: Dixie Dalton Mills of Thorn Hill;
daughter and son-in-law Darlene and Dale McDaniel of Rutledge; grandson: Tristan
McDaniel of Rutledge; granddaughter and son-in-law: Nicole and Jeff Frye of
Strawberry Plains; one great granddaughter: Emiley Frye of Strawberry Plains;
sister: Elsie Collins; sisters-in-law: Eileen Bryant of Bean Station, Bernell
Farmer of Thorn Hill; brother-in-law: Ed Dalton of Bean Station; also special
friends: Frank West of Tazewell, Scott Coffey, Larry and Katherine Bowlin of

Porter E. Mullins, age 70, of Tazewell, was born on April 25, 1935 and passed
away on January 8, 2006 at his home.





He was saved at an early age and was a member of Seal Chapel Missionary
Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents: George and Ora (Ramsey)
Mullins.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years: Delores Turner Mullins; sons: Richard
and daughter-in-law Michelle Mullins of Seattle, Wa, Anthony Ryan Mullins,
Paul E. Mullins both of Tazewell; granddaughter: Anna Michelle Mullins;
grandson: Garrett Mullins both of Tazewell; brother: Lewis and sister-in-law Bernice
Mullins; sisters: Virgie and brother-in-law Woodrow Campbell, lnez and

UT Medical Center.

He was preceded in death by his father: Lawrence "Goobe" Munsey.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years: Peggy; son and daughter-in-law: Ande
and Mary Munsey; his "above average" grandson: Scotty Munsey; sisters: Betty
(Horace) Davis and Marie Davis both of Tazewell; several nephews and cousins.

Pearl C. Nantz, age 60, of New Tazewell, was born March 2, 1945 and passed
away on January 19, 2006 at Claiborne County Hospital.

He owned Quikstop Market for 11 years and Discount Tobacco for 4 years. He
was preceded in death by his father: Ora Nantz; brother: Cova Nantz.

He is survived by his wife: Sandy Nantz of New Tazewell; children and
spouses: Chris (Elizabeth) Nantz of Tazewell, Emily (John) Steele of Downing Town,
Pa, Pearl Nantz, Jr. of New Tazewell, Lisa Nantz of Knoxville, Allen Sulfridge
and fianc/ Jennifer Short; grandchildren: Austin Nantz, Elijah Nantz;
granddaughter due in April; mother: Ethel (Granny) Nantz; brothers and sisters and

BERNIE SECRIST







Bernie Secrist, age 67, of Harrogate, was born September 29, 1938 in Winona,
Wv and passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2006 at UT Hospital.

He was a member of Pump Springs Baptist Church and a Sunday school teacher.
He was a Marine at the Bay of Pigs invasion. He was preceded in death by his
parents; his twin sister; and three brothers.

He is survived by his wife: Sandra Snellings Secrist; daughter: Stephanie
Jones; two grandchildren: Emily and Jacob Jones; three brothers: Verlin, George
and Gary Secrist; two honorary daughters: Mary Dickenson and Norma Stump; and a
host of nieces and nephews.

There was a celebration service of Bernie's life on Thursday, January 19 at 7
p.m. at Pump Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Gary Miller, Rev. Emery Minton,
and Rev. Ben Dishner officiating. Music by Linda Lankford, Rod Wallace, and
Betty Davis.

In lieu of flowers the family has asked that memorial gifts be given to the
"Just Imagine" building fund at Pump Springs Church, P.O. Box 2, Harrogate, Tn
37752.
