My grandparents were Arlie Hugh Hicks Sr. and Beulah Johnson - both born and
raised in Newport. I am working on both of their lines but right now I am
concentrating on the Hicks line. I know that Arlie's father Anderson was
born in Cosby in 1853. On 19 November 1895 Anderson married Nancy Price in
Cocke Co. Nancy had been married before she married Anderson. Her maiden
name was Holder and I think she was born in North Carolina (07 March 1860).
She is buried in our family plot at Union Cemetery - died 23 May 1947.

I am looking for any information about Nancy Holder - her first husband ?
Price and information about her children.

In the 1900 Census for Cocke this is what is said about the Anderson Hicks
family:

Other children we know about that were *not* listed on this census:

I have not been able to locate anything on Nancy Holder or her life before
she married Anderson. We suspect one of her children - Daniel Price (b. 1
January 1889 and d. 21 November 1909) - is buried next to her in Union
Cemetery. His grave marker is a Woodmen of the World Memorial stone.

Anderson's parents where John Hicks and Sereenah Partin. I've been able to
track the Partin/Parton line (thanks Doris Parton!) but John is stumping me
a bit. I have been able to find John and Sereenah listed in the 1850
(family # 941 Page 409) & 1870 (family # 71 Page 463) Cocke Co. Census. He
was born in 1810 and Sereenah was born in 1809. I found a John "Buxton"
Hicks listed who was born in 1810 in Granville, NC - where John is
supposedly from. We think the two John's are the same. If that is true
then John's parents were Abner Hicks and Elizabeth Harris from Granville Co.
NC.

Well that is what I have. If anyone knows any information about this family
*please* contact me. My father was an only child and died when I was only
6. My grandmother Beulah died when I was 2 and my grandfather Arlie died
when I was 15 and too occupied to learn family history (I'm kicking myself
now). I am the last person in Arlie's line and I would love to learn that I
have lots of cousins from Anderson and Nancy's other children.

Any information that can be tossed my way would be a BIG help.
