Subject: John Gentry's Cabin - Inman's Bend - Solomon's Ferry - Cluck/Click

I found a North Carolina land grant in Greene county dated 12 Sept 1787
for one of our Click family members. The description it gives is: tract of
land containing one hundred and eighty acres lying and being in our County of
Greene on the RIVER RIDGE ABOUT THREE FOURTHS OF A MILE FROM FRENCH BROAD AND
OPPOSITE JOHN GENTRYS CABBIN.

Is there any Gentry researchers out there who would happen to know
approximately the exact location their John Gentry family lived?

NOW MORE:
I found that on the same tax list in 1791 Greene county with William Clack
was Shadrack Inman. In 1792 they both disappear from the Greene county tax
lists BUT that is the time that the boundaries changed & Jefferson County was
formed.

After doing a little research on Shadrack Inman I find that he lived in
Jefferson County and Inman's Bend is on the Nolichuckey River bordering Cocke
& Jefferson County.

I also found another researcher looking for her "Cluck" girls in Cocke
County. One of them Mary A. Cluck is listed in the household of William
SOLOMON in the 1850 census. After further checking later census records for
Cocke County I discover that Solomon's Ferry is in the 4th District of Cocke
County & is just a short distance from the Inman's Bend. Solomon's Ferry puts
the probable location close to the French Broad River in Cocke County in this
area probably near the Dutch Bottoms.

I then knew that some of the Gentry's lived in Jefferson County as well, so
suspect this area in this land grant is located in the northern section of
Cocke county close to the Solomon's and Inman's. I do know that we have an
Inman marriage in Cocke county to another one of our Click's down in the
English Creek area. Green Inman lived in the Bat Harbor community & this is
where some of the other Click family lived.

Then of course Cocke county was taken from Jefferson county in 1796, so now I
lose all records!!!

I haven't done research in Jefferson county before and was looking at the
Jefferson county website and didn't seem to find much online there. Did I
miss something??? Can anyone refer me to online info in Jefferson County? And
where is the best library to go to in Jefferson County for research, would
that be Dandridge?

Thanks for any help.
