Subject: New Cemetery Listing

Greetings Cocke County Subscribers,

The Norwood Cemetery, Del Rio, TN, has never been listed anywhere on the Internet. I am certain there are many who would be very interested in obtaining the data it contains. Surnames are: Bailey, Clements, Gibson, McIntosh, Norwood, Payne, Presnell, Riley, Roberts, Waddell and Woody.

Last year I instigated a party of 5 people, including myself, to go to this cemetery with intentions to survey it, which we did. We carefully copied every bit of information from every gravestone and made rubbings of a few of them to be positive the dates were copied correctly.. I have this information typed and would like to post it to the Cocke County Website. I was given a mailing address ( ) to request instructions about how to submit this information. The person does not answer the email. Does anyone have any idea how to get in touch with this person or how to submit this information so that it will get posted on the Cocke County website along with the other cemeteries?

A 4-wheel drive vehicle is required for access to the cemetery as the road runs parallel to, and crosses twice, a creek which floods several times a year. The cemetery is located on the extreme top of a mountain and is kept closed by two locked gates. The person in charge of the keys does not live very close to the cemetery, so advance notice is necessary in order to visit it. The only other times the gates are unlocked are for decoration day and in the event of a new burial. There is an abundance of poisonous snakes there except in the colder months of the year. It is easy to understand how having the information readily available online would be to the advantage of many individuals.

I would appreciate any help in this matter.

Genie Rice
