Rootsweb is going to attempt to find the list admin. If they cannot then
the list will be made available for adoption. They didn't give me a
timetable for this but based on other lists I don't think they'll spend a
long time with it. Meantime, we are kinda on our own here.

Since the list doesn't show as adoptable, that means we have a list admin on
the books. Since we can't seem to get any response I've asked rootsweb if I
can adopt the list as administrator. If they allow it, then I'll address
the issues we've been discussing and at least be present for the
discussions.

When I get the posts t from the list they all have the [TNCOCKE-L] in the
subject line, as illustrated below. The list admin has turned on the
Subject line prepend, which all lists have. That's what I look for on the
list. Not a lot of spam gets through to the list anyway, so I feel safe in
assuming it is relevant - at least to the list if not to me.

I want to "second" this request! I DID DELETE the post listed below [Googe]
because I thought it was spam!
Barb Moore

I second that request. For months there have been too many requests for a
prepend to count and the requests have been ignored. Just this morning, I
came
very close to deleting without reading the mail with the subject line
"Googe."
It looked like SPAM.
Since the list manager is ignoring the request for a prepend on the
subject line, could I suggest that those who post to the list add "
[TNCocke]
"
when writing their subject? Many messages must be being deleted without
being
read because of so much SPAM on the Web.
If your message is important to you please, members of the list,
identify the list so the message will be read. Your message is important to
me
however it's equally important that I not waste my time opening an offer for
something I don't want or need.
The list manager is ignoring the request so it looks to me like we each
have to identify the list as TNCocke when mail is sent or take the chance it
will not be read.
Thanks, SandraZ

On June 29, 1793, Cloyd's (or Loyd's) plantation on the south side of the
Nolachucky River was the scene of an Indian raid, in which two children were
killed and another dangerously wounded.
Mrs. Cloyd was carried a half mile from the home and put to death, her body
being horribly mangled. Colnel John McNabb and ninety-one volunteers
assembled at the Big Pigeon and followed the trail of the Indians across the
mountains to the Tuckasegee, where they killed two Indians. Other red men
escaped because a member of the McNabb force thoughtlessly set up a war hoop
