To all friends, relatives and associates my Dad is corresponding with:

This Darwin Pope, Grover's son. I hate to the bearer of bad news but I
feel it only necessary to inform you all of my Dad's condition. My
father, Grover, suffered a massive stroke Tuesday at 1pm. This happened
here at his home. It came on sudden and was very unexpected. Despite his
chemotherapy which as some of you might know of he has been in good
spirit and had been doing better than expected. His cancer was thought
to have been removed successfully even though he has had a difficult
recovery time. He finished his 4th of 6 chemo treatments last week. He
was informed then of the effect the blood thinner he had been taking for
his heart and the role it could play on affecting his thinning and
thickening of blood with chemo. As stated, Tuesday he suffered a massive
stroke. He is in Jackson General hospital in Jackson in room 635 if
anyone wishes to send cards or such. The worst news is along with the
stroke it has cause complications as we found out yesterday of the
effect it has had on his throat muscles which is not allowing him to
secrete the fluids which lay in his throat and should be passed or
something to that effect. This has caused fluid to build up in his lungs
now and begin to bring on pneumonia which is life threatening in his
condition. The first day or so he was in and out and somewhat coherient
to his surrounding. As of yesterday his fever has risen and he is not
responding well. My father is basically fighting for his life now. I and
my wife are at home tonight with my mother so she can rest here and will
be returning to Jackson tomorrow. The next 48 hours are as the doctor
says, "touch and go". They are giving him the best of care and comfort
and we are all praying he become concious soon and with God's grace can
find a way to fight. I felt it my obligation to let all of you whether
friend or family, whom I know he enjoys contact with so much on here as
he finds refuge getting online and keeping touch with you all for
correspondence and for his geneology research he loves so dearly, to
inform you of the circumstances and what he is battling. Thank you all
for giving him happiness in corresponding with him and please keep him
in thought and prayer the next couple of days. I will try my best to
again group mail all of you any changes and outcome of this tragic thing
that has feel on this wonderful man..my Father. Again thank you and I
hope this was appropriate enough and finds you all well. He things
highly of all his internet friends and family. I am not sure how soon I
will back here at his computer to receive or reply to any of his emails.
I pray soon, he himself can contact you all once again. If you will wish
to write, that will be fine but you might not receive a response quickly
but I will do my best. My email is if any of
you wish to have me keep you updated perhaps more efficiently. Again,
thank you all for your time and prayers.
