I know that an Isaac Taylor and I think James Taylor "chained" land
(surveyed it) for several folks up in Overton County in the early 1800's,
among them being a John Rice in old Smith County on roaring river
(present-day Algood, Putnam County), and Elijah/ElishaChisholm/Chisum. I'm
pretty sure these are the same Taylors who later wound up in White County on
Taylor's Creek.
They surveyed the Rice land in 1802, and it wasn't far from the land owned
by Chisum. Curiously, both a John Rice and this same Chisum fellow lived
pretty close to each other back in Hawkins County in the 1790's, foot of
Bay's Mountain near the Sullivan County line.
