Anything is possible but I have no indication that Martha Ann was married prior to her marriage to my James Edward Hays. Please share with me why you think Martha was married before her marriage to James Hays???

Martha Ann and James moved to Graves Co KY where Martha died. Her tombstone shows her birth date as June 5, 1831, and her death date as December 14, 1863.

BUT I have learned new information since I posted this message. It was family oral tradition that James Edward Hays's 1st wife was named BELL, and since our James was living in Gibson Co TN in 1853 when a James Hays married a Martha Bell, we all took this as proof.

But I have recently acquired a copy of James Edward Hays's 1910 Civil War Pension application and all thru this application he states that his 1st wife was Martha Ann KINSEY.

Since both of James and Martha's sons were dead before KY starting keeping death certificates, I have no where else to look to find proof of Martha's maiden and/or names prior to her marriage to James Hays in 1853, when she would have been 22 years old.

FYI - there is no record that Martha had any children before her sons with James Hays.
