Subject: [TNGILES-L] 1845 wagon train to TX
Date: Thu, 7 Jun 2001 13:40:33 -0400
Giles Co Historical Society's Oct. 26, 1980 issue on page 180- has a story
about a wagon train from Giles Co TN, Lauderdale and Lawrence Co AL that
went to TX in 1845. The train traveled through North MS stopping at Caddo
Parish, LA because some members were ill. They stopped at Jefferson Co TX
with some members going further west to Upshur Co
TX.
Known members on the train were GLASCO, ROGERS, EARP, CASTLEBERRY, STARKEY
and HUNT. Mr. Ben F. Strickland of Milton, FL- in 1980- stated that the Earp
family have documented this information from family letters. Can anyone shed
more light on the members of this train or anything more about it?
I descend from the Starkey and Hunt families. I have some Graves families
that went to TX about that time and suspect they may have been on that train
too.
