Mrs. Lula Crum Succumbed Monday
Mrs. Lula Crum, aged 69, passed away, Monday at 3:55 p.m., at her home,
331 Loretta Street, Greeneville, Tennessee.
She has been in ill health for the past 14 years and seriously ill for
the past 4 days.
She is survived by seven daughters, Mrs. Arthur Miller, Mrs. Earl Little
and Mrs. Earnie Hodge of Johnson City, Mrs. Eixie Estepp of Rheatown, Mrs.
Ralph Casteel, Mrs. Charlie {Sudie} Gosnell and Mrs. Perry {Ethel} Laughlin
of Greeneville: Five sons, W.A. Metcalf of Johnson City, Phillip Metcalf
and John Crum of Chattanogga, Earl Metcalf and Ben Crum of Greeneville;
sixty-one grandchildren, and twenty-seven great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by one brother, Dan Shelton; three sisters, Isadora
Shelton of Greeneville, Mrs. Minnie Estepp and Mrs. M.H. Shelton of Chuckey;
several half-brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Nazarene Church
of which she was a faithful member. Rev. Forrest McCullough and Rev. Howard
Morgan will conduct the services. Burial will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery.
Pall bearers and flower girls will be selected from members of the church.
She was loved by all her friends and neighbors.
The body was moved from Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home to the home of a daughter,
Mrs. Perry {Ethel} Laughlin at 406 Highland Avenue at 12:30 p.m. today.
[She was the widow of Christopher Columbus Crum and I don't know the first
name of her Metcalf husband].
