I believe strongly that I have found the only household on the 1880 census
that would be my grandmother, Mary Nancy Caroline Smith at 4 years of age.
She was born in 1876. If it is right, then I have found the name of my gr
grandparents. She had one brother they called Uncle Jim and there is a son,
James F. Smith in the household according to Familysearch.org. Does the
nickname Jim usually stand for James? They are the only two children with
mother, father, and a servant.

She told her children she lived in Chatanooga, Tennessee before she came to
Texas to marry my grandfather, Johnney Gregston. The Census Place is
District 10, Knox.
Can anyone tell me where Know is and how close it is to Chatanooga.

Also, Uncle Jim lived in Chatanooga all his life. He was born in 1878. Does
anyone know anything of his burial or what he did in his life. I have heard
he had a store (furniture?) in Chattanooga. We do not know anything for Mary
Nancy died when my father was very young.

Any help would be appreciated.
