Hardeman County Names: WOMACK, WHITBY,
Hi everyone, I am Ann in NE Texas and I have a large family who lived in
Hardeman county for many years. John D. Womack, was the son of David
Womack and Adaline (unknown). David was born in Halifax Co., NC, but lived
many years in Tippah Co., MS. where he died in 1874. I have lots of Womack
information that I will gladly share.
JOHN D. WOMACK, who was in Hardeman Co., by 1865, when he married FRANCIS
P./R. WHITBY. He married (2) M. E. (unknown), about 1872. He had children
by both wives. Their know children are: (1) Mary L. Womack; J. C. Womack;
John D. Womack, Jr.; E. F. Womack (female); Laura J. Womack; Laura was
born c1880, so other children might have been born after 1880.
I need the marriage date for John and M.E. Also, I especially would like
to know when and where John D. Womack and his wives died. Did they die
there or move on? I have searched the cemetery records that are on line at
the Hardeman county RootsWeb site, but didn't find them. Are there other
cemeteries that are not on line?
I know that John D. owned land in Hardeman County. If someone has access
to the Land Records and Probate/Wills, etc. I would sure appreciate a
look-up. If he died possessing land, and did not leave a Will, the land
records would establish his childrens name and the time of his death.
Thanks,
Ann in NE Texas
I welcome any additional information on these families. I especially would
like to know when and where John D. Womack died. I have searched the
cemetery records that are on line for Hardeman county but didn't find him
or his wives. Are there other cemeteries?
