Hello List:
Well comes a Johnny come lately. My Grandmother Susan America Payne's
(Maiden name), mother was Mary Byrd Payne. Susan married my Grandfather
Joseph Alexander Inman and the family always contended that Mary Byrd was
Cherokee, and there are several Mary Byrds on the various rolls. The Mary
Bryd married Alexander Payne in Hardin County in 1867 or it may have been
earlier.Mary's family had been in the Hardin County for years as had the
Payne family. The Byrds originally came from NC and it is quite possible
that her family was of Indian blood somewhere in their line, but I have been
unable to find it. Any history or comment to this effect? I am Ken Inman of
Oklahoma, E Mail
