I am a descendant of Capt Thomas Lee who was a Revolutionary War soldier.
Are the books Lee of Virginia 1642-1892 Biographical and Genealogical
Sketches of the Descendants of Colonel Richard Lee and the Book, The Cobbs
Hall Lee's of Virginia and the Revolutionary War Pension and the other books
that you mentioned available for purchase. I have both volumes of the
Families of Hawkins County Tennessee. I paid $35.00 for Vol. 2 new from the
Historical Society. The First volume was out of print and I paid $105.00
for it on a contact on it from Barnes and Nobles used book sales. Last time
I looked the 2nd volume was still available for the origional price. There
is a question with another researcher in my family as to whether Capt.
Thomas Lee was descended from Sir Richard or from John Lee. I would
appreciate any input from other subscribers or from other Lee researchers.
My dad's father, Thomas Franklin Lee, left TN after 1894. He was married to
Martha Elizabeth Alexander in Hamblen County. His father was William F. Lee
and his mother was Lucinda Johnson. Thomas Franklin Lee was killed when a
team of mules ran away wrecking the freight wagon. This happened in
Stephens County Texas. His widow died in Torrance County NM in 1918 or 1919.
I have a death certificate for Thomas. Unfortunately, NM did not start
issuing death certificates until 1919, so I do not have my grandmother's
death certificate.
I have the Hawkins County censuses from 1850 and on for the William F Lee
family and the 1880 Hamblen County census for Thomas Franklin Lee, and the
Texas and NM censuses for Thomas and his widow.

I would appreciate any help from anyone regarding the ancestry of this
family, and would be happy to share what I have. We were in Hawkins and
Hanblen County last year. I had just begun researching, and didn't know what
I was doing, But I did look at the 1st volume of the Hawkins county book,
and there is a very strong family resemblance between pictures of my father
and Eliza Jane Augustus Lee Kite (wife of Martin Van Buren Kite.)
If the books you referenced are out of print, do you know of a Library that
would have them that would lend them to a Library in NM?
Rita
