Yes. William Ellis was the oldest of the seven children of James Ellis
and Sarah Riggs. The identity of James Ellis' father is a matter of
much debate. However, Sarah Rigg's ancestoral line is well know and
well documented to the 1550's in a 1901 book by John Wallace, and is
available on microfilm in many libraries. The Ellis descendents are
covered thoroughly in a second edition book published last year by
Carolyn Erickson. You would enjoy both of these, if you can get to a
library that has them. If your local library doesn't, try an
inter-library loan.

james and Sarah's third child, Hulda, married my John Neece in 1800 in
Jefferson County TN. Most of the Ellis clan and many of the Riggs clan,
and my Neece family all moved to Lincoln County Tennessee in 1811.
