Petersburg is located 12 miles NNW of Fayetteville, Lincoln Co. TN,
and is on the border of Marshall Co. U.S. hwy 431 is the major road
through the town.
One note. A small portion of Lincoln Co. was given to form Marshall
Co. in 1836. While researching Lincoln Co. in this area, it would be
wise to also check Marshall Co. records.
Locating the pre-1836 boundary for this area is easy. Take out a
map of the area. From the most northern point of Lincoln Co., draw a
line due west to Giles Co. (across Marshall Co.). From the Giles/Lincoln
boundary, draw a line north to intersect the previous line drawn. This
is approx. the origional Lincoln Co boundary in the area.
