Francis and list members,
My Ambrose HALL owned land on the west fork of Flint River. I've
pretty well narrowed this area toward the town of Lincoln.
Pay no attention to the 1850 census for a district location. The
county was broken down into two areas in that census. Subdivision one and
two. I beleive that Subdivision one was on the west side and Subdivision
two on the east side. This had NOTHING TO DO with civil districts.
To get a more accurate location, refer to the census years from 1860
onwards.
I do not have a district map that depicts the early civil districts.
They changed as portions were taken from LCT and added to Marshall and
Moore counties.
For early LCT research, refer to the tax lists circa 1830. They are
listed by Captains districts and I have a map for those. My Ambrose HALL
was listed in Capt. John FLYNTS district. The 1840 census listed this as
Civil Dist. #12. That would currently be Civil District 22.
If your relative is not listed in later or earlier census records,
there are two ways to locate where he was living. Find a neighbor who was
listed in the early Captains districts or in a later census.
Your Wheeler family was likely in FLYNT'S, PICKETT'S or PRUITT'S
Captains District. This would be present Civil Districts 3, 22, 23, 24, or
25.
Godspeed.....Patrick
