Subject: [LCT] CARPENTER families

Need help in locating my CARPENTER family (I have 2 different lines) from
Lincoln Co., TN.

#1 BRAXTON CARPENTER, b: ca. 1801, VA, was supposedly orphaned at an early
age and was taken in by a TOM BOTTOMS. Around 1820 the Bottoms family moved
to Lincoln Co. and took BRAXTON with him. BRAXTON m: SARAH (some say KING,
others say PHILLIPS). By 1850 he and Sarah had moved to AL.

#2 JOEL CARPENTER, b: 1813, Lincoln Co., NC, m: SARAH ELIZABETH HOVIS. By
1860 JOEL and SARAH were living in the household of ELIZABETH HOVIS. I found
SARAH CARPENTER in the 1870 census, but there was no JOEL. Where was he?
Did he die?

Any info on both or either of these lines would be greatly appreciated.
