Jeanette, if you will look on page 165 of "And Then Along Came The Fannings"
you will find Benjamin Franklin Fanning, son of Middleton and Rachel
(Harper) Fanning; born 15 Oct 1840 Lincoln County, TN; died 3 June 1909,
Lincoln County, TN; married 26 Aug 1858 Lincoln County, TN to Syntha Frances
Thompson; daughter of William J. and Nancy ( ) Thompson; born 6 Sept. 1840,
TN; died 5 April 1901 Lincoln County, TN; both Benjamin F. and Syntha F.
Fanning are buried at Sandlin Cemetery in Lincoln County, TN
Benjamin Franklin Fanning enlisted in the 44th Tennessee Regiment and fought
through the war and died believing in the cause for which the Confederates
thought was right. A braver soldier never wore the gray.
Ben F. Fanning signed many papers in Lincoln County, TN for other soldiers
or their widows to start receiving their pension money.
