Hi Don,
I think we've corresponded in the past, but I descend from Campbell
Stewart b. 1803 Tn....I've done some research, much more needed, (I am also
wondering if his name might have been "Carroll", have got to look at original
census, this because of of a poss son Wm. Carroll Stewart), anyway, I've
wondered how my Campbell might relate to your Preston....
What little I have on Campbell is I have him on the 1836 LC tax list, living
in what was then Dist 15, have him on the 1840 Marshall Co Tn census, then
have him on the 1850 census of LC....I've been trying to gather some info on
some of his children:
Sarah J. b. abt 1829 m. George W. Posey 1858 LC, he d. in Perry Co TN 1880,
she prob. in Madison Co Al, (she filed for his pension here)
William Carroll b. 1833 m. Mary A Manly 1865 LC, they died in Madison Co Al.
James C. b. 1835 m. Margaret ? listed in LC on the 1880 census.
Elizabeth b. 1843, no further info.
Thomas Perry b. 1846 m. Sarah Jane Land, and this line stayed in LC.
This is just some stuff I've been working on, and not sure I'm right on all
of this, still gathering proof....One other thing is twins seem to run in
this Stewart line.
If anyone has any info they can add, or correct, and especially info on
Campbell, I would love to hear from you....And, how and if Campbell relates
to any of the other Stewarts there in LC.
