Looking for an A H Collins born abt 1820 TN parents born in SC & TN. A H was
married to SC(possibly Sarah C Harwell Swaner) In 1880 LCT 15th Civil AH
Collins & wife SC had the following children: LJ(fe) 1866, B L(fe) 1868, ME
(fe) 1870, AS (m)1872, HRI(fe) 1876. In same household is RM Swanner age
20(1860) listed as step son. Can anyone fill me in on the wife S C and the
full name of AH?
I have a document from Giles/LCT(can't remember off top of my head) for sale
of a slave involving James WC Swaner and witnessed by AH Collins prior to
1853. Divorce between Sarah & James WC Swaner was a messy & bitter on in
Giles ct. Later played out another chapter when SArah located a slave for
which she had the deed in the possession of two Leatherwood boys and sued for
the recovery of the slave and proceeds from her work. Seems James sold the
slave to the Leatherwoods and it took nearly 2 years to locate the girl.
