Hey List,

I recently received a copy of the newspaper obit for my relative Asa Street,
who died in 1916. It stated he was a member of the Missionary Baptist
Church. Does anyone know the location of this church and if they kept
records on children born to members? In case anyone would like the info,
I'll reprint below along with 2 other obits on the page.

"Mr. Asa Street, aged 88 years, 1 month and 23 days, died of the infirmities
of age near kelso on Monday, May 23, 1916. He was a member of the
Missionary Baptist Church and after life's fitful fever he sleeps well.
Service was conducted by Rev. Price, burial at Campbell graveyard. He is
survived by his wife, two daughters and one son"

For Street researchers I had a question. I have that both Isaac and Henry
F. should be alive in 1916. There are other sons I don't have a death date
for, but these two should be alive. Why do you think they just listed one
son? Did one of the two I mentioned move off?

The next obit was for "Mrs Sarah H. Johnson, aged 73 years, died of a
complication of diseases at the residence of her son, J. A. Johnson, at
Cyrnston,Monday, May 22, 1916. For years shes has been a member of the
Methodist church, having lived a Godly life and won the race now upon her
head rests the crown of glory. Funeral service was conducted by Rev. E. R.
Pillians, burial at the Wright graveyard. She is survived by three sons, J.
A., J. L., and H. B. Johnson and one daughter, Mrs Lucy Johnson."

The last was the obit for "Mrs. Dora Childs, aged 60 years, and the wife of
Mr. H. T. Childs, died of hemorrhage of the bowels in Fayetteville at the
home of her brother, Mr. W. N. Whitaker, at 4 o'clock Thursday morning, May
18, 1916. She was a member of the Christian church and her life testified
to the sincerity of her profession, giving the sorrowing relatives the
assurance that she has entered into the realms of endless bliss. She was
kind and considerate of others and was loved by every acquaintance. A few
days before her death mrs. Childs fell at the northeast corner of the square
and while no bones were broken, the shock brought on the trouble, which
resulted in her death. She is survived by her husband, two brothers,
Messrs. W. N. and M. E. Whitaker"

Hope these help someone.

Michaele
