Hi Tom:
Good to see you back. Hope the move to VA was a easy one.
About Ephraim. Have you been to Sherry Finchum's web site? She has the
parents of Ephram as Ephraim and Elizabeth and his grandparents as John KING and
Mary.
On the 1790 Pendleton SC census, all on the same page are:
Thomas ARMSTRONG 1 male 16 years & upwards, including heads of families, 4
free white males under 16 years, 2 free white females including heas of
families.
John GAMBEL 1, 5, 1 (this could be the GAMMILL family that married into the
KING family)
Wm ARMSTRONG 1, 1, 1
WM ARMSTRONG 2, 2, 4
Hugh HARKINS 2, 4, 5
Robert KING JR. 1, 2, 4
Robert KING SR 1, 0, 3
Robert MOORE 3, 2, 3
Also on the same census but different pages are more LCT surnames:
STEPHENSON, LAUDERDALE, BURNS and HOLLEY.
About MCCANT, Mildrew Moore did mention her family knew the MCCANT"S. I
cannot find a MCCANT on the 1850 census but have not looked for them on any
other. However there is a Thomas MCCANT in Pendleton SC in 1789 buying 240 acres
in the 96th dist from Robert TATE of Newberry CO., SC. TATE is also a LCT
surname.
Also in Pendleton Dist SC. 7-May-1796 Joshua BROILS & wife Elizabeth for L 30
stg. paid to Samuel HARKINS and sold to Ketron HARKINS and Joseph HARKINS 263
acres on Hencoop Creek of Rocky River, part of tract granted Jno. GRASON 1785
and Elizabeth BROILS. Wit: Hugh HARKINS, Thomas MCCANT... Elizabeth BROILS
released dower to Wm. HALL. J.P.
So the above sure looks like our KING, HARKINS and the MCCANT or father of
the LCT MCANT'S.
There are many probate records in LCT on the KINGS and one day I will get
around to sending for them them. Right now I have other's I am working on.
If you want to send for them let me know and I will send you a list of first
names, dates and the address and cost and where to send for them.
Again good to hear from you.
Cousin Julia
