Subject: [TNMARSHA] BILLS in TN/TX

Hello Carolyn,
Thanks for looking up James Artice BILLS in your
files. I too am surprised that I have not been able to
find him (or his wife and children) in anyones BILLS
lineage. I guess we (my sister & I ) are the only ones
doing his line so far. These are the census in which
my sister has found him so far (I am doing the
research by myself because she has two small babies &
no time):
1880 Navarro Co. TX James Artice (25), living with
Robert D. (Dysart) BILLS & family (Roberts)
1890 Census was destroyed.
1890 Navarro Co. TX James Artice (45), living with
Bettie A. FRENCH and living with children from first
and second marriages.
Navarro County Marriages Index (1846 - 1888):
BILLS, J. A. pg 78
However, we have not been able to find him in any
Marshall County census, and his parents are not listed
in any of the census records my sister looked at. I
can only guess his parents stayed in TN and did not go
to TX with him. My sister was recently read a letter
written by Robert Dysart BILLS where he mentions that
his cousin James Artice is staying with him (in
Navarro County)--but I have looked at the IGI and
Ancestral Files found at the Mormon church family
center and have not been able to locate him or his
family.
I really appreciate your help. I will try to get in
touch with someone at the Navarro County Genealogical
Society to see where I can find the documents you
mention.
Thanks again:)
Patricia Pulles
