NERREN/WEST
Benjamin Franklin Nerren's son, Jesse B. was in the Confederate Army, the
32nd TN, a private. Jesse's home is listed as Lincoln County, TN in the
Archive records.
Family stories indicated that Jesse was hung in Nashville during the Civil
War and also two West brothers.
According to 'WAR OF REBELLION-OFFICIAL RECORDS, SERIES II, VOL 8, PAGE 421,
PRISONERS OF WAR AND STATE, CORRESPONDENCE, UNION AND CONFEDERATE';
Richmond, March 22,1865:
To Brig Gen John E. Mulford, Assistant Agent of Exchange: Sir: The
following named Confederate officers and soldiers hung in Nashville at the
dates and names to wit: Private Jesse Nearing, 32nd Tn, June 1864; two
brothers by the name of West, belonging to the 32nd Tn in June 1864. (several
others named) R.O. Ould, Agnt. of Exchange."
I still do not know why he was hung although I've written the National
Archives, State Archives, Sons of the Confederate Veterans, and the National
Cemeteries. I also do not know where he was buried.
If anyone knows anything regarding Jesse, I would appreciate their help.
