I WANTED TO KNOW THE ORIGIN FOR THE NAME OF DUCK RIVER. I THOUGHT IT WAS
NAMED FOR A JOHN DUCK SO IT MAY HAVE BEEN LATE AND I MADE A MISTAKE. AS FOR
THE COOKS , I BELIEVE THAT THEY ARE THE IN-LAWS OF MARTIN SHOFNER WHOSE
FIRST WIFE WAS CATRIN OR CATHERINE ROUNDTREE COOK BORN IN 1740, FROM BEDFORD
COUNTY. HER FATHER WAS JOHN COOK BORN IN 1736. THEREFORE DO YOU THINK THAT
WILLIAM COOK IS THE SON OF JOHN COOK BORN IN 1736 AND SISTER TO CATHERINE
(1740) AND THEN THE JOHN J. COOK (1820) WOULD BE THE SON OF WILLIAM
COOK(1769). AT ANY RATE THIS GIVES THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE COOKS AND
THE SHOFNERS. ALSO CHECK LINCOLN CO. HISTORY AS I BELIEVE SOME OF THE COOKS
WERE FOUND THERE WITH SOME OF THE SHOFNERS. AND AGAIN DOES ANYONE KNOW FOR
WHOM DUCK RIVER IS NAMED? LUCY MCLEAN
