Thanks Tom for the Marshall County Lookup, I don't know which side of I-65
William Henry Barlar d. 1890 is buried on. We already know there is no record
in the Giles County Cemetery Records. That location makes it either Giles or
Marshall County.
Either way I was told that a local farmer uprooted the grave stone among
others in the cemetery (in the 1940s) to make room for his cattle ranch. He
then took the stones to the backside of his property to a nearby ditch and
ldumped them there. If so, what a greedy lawbreaker. The surname of the
farmer was Bass I am tole. I will withhold any other particulars until there
is more concrete evidence. The the individual is now deceased. All of this
was told to us by the generation of Barlars now gone to their graves who were
first line descendants and since there is no stone or cemetery to be found it
appears accurate. Spent some time searching that area but so far no luck.
If anyone on this these list knows anything about that lost cemetery in the
area please let me know.
