Does it have a couple, Mary Broach and Edwin James Glenn, mentioned?
They moved to the county from Georgia around 1812 before Lincoln was cut
from Giles County. Then Edwin James died around 1819 leaving the land to
Mary and her son (in my line) Elijah J. Glenn. The least he could do was
live long enough in one place to be counted in a census! HA!

What makes it even more interesting is that the area they owned was then
lumped into Marshall County in 1835 in what came to be known as
"District 1." There is another line of Glenns that moved to Marshall
County about 8 years hence from South Carolina that were named: James
and Mary Glenn. It took some doing to get those two in the right
channels as each has relatives that lived in both Marshall County
District 1 and District 15. In fact, the families have intermarried into
other family lines. Then, there is an Edwin Glenn that married a Mary
Broach in Georgia in 1809, but the Broach researchers tell me this
couple never moved to Tennessee. Ugh.

Needless to say, trying to track down anything on this Edwin James Glenn
-- Mary Broach couple has been fun. Please let me know if you think the
book on early Lincoln County settlers would be of assistance to me.

Thanks.

Bryan W. Glenn

I do not know if this is of interest to you but I have a book written by
Dr.
Reuben Crawford "Lincoln County" It just tells about the early history
of
Lincoln County. and some of the history of how lincoln county was
started
when i finish my research I will be glad to donate it to the historical
society if they do not have a copy of it...It does not give names except
for
the ones who pioneered and settled the county...
