Thank you for your reply. My information about Hugh L. Thomson is very sketchy. An elderly relative thought that perhaps Hugh's father had been born in South Carolina; birth date 6 Jun 1806 (apparently from the gravestone). She thought his mother's maiden name might have been TYSON, but that is not at all firm. He married Mary Henrietta BLACKWELL, who may have been born in TN or KY, so you probably wouldn't have anything on her, even if my Hugh is your Hugh.
The names of his daughters were Emily James, Betty, Anne, and Cally, and he had a son Henry Hugh. It sounds possible they were the same man, although some details don't match: place of birth, the middle initial and mother's maiden name. Date and maiden name could be faulty memory, but I believe the middle initial may have been on the gravestone.
