Subject: PATTERSON obits in just uploaded File12 - see [TNMONROE-L] MONROE UPDATE

I'm looking for more information about the PATTERSONS
and some of the others mentioned in the obituary file
that Joy Locke just uploaded (#12 at
http://www.tngennet.org/monroe/obitindex/file12.txt
).
I hope you can bear with me and follow a long-winded
preface to my query.
I am trying to establish whether or not there is any
link between Elbert M. PATTERSON and any of the
PATTERSONS mentioned in file #12 of the Monroe County
obits because one of *those* PATTERSONs married a
Nancy GILES, who I think may have been a niece of Dicy
and James Calvin GILES. Dicy GILES, if you'll
remember, is the woman whose burial site list members
helped us establish just last month.
Dica Ann "Dicy" SMITH m. James Calvin GILES. They are
on the Monroe Co census for 1870 with their own early
children and some of Dicy's girls by her first
marriage to Jacob ENGLAND from NC who died during the
Civil War. Among Dicy and Calvin GILES' daughters in
that Monroe census was Dicy C. GILES who later married
Elbert M. PATTERSON.
My long-term and long-time goal is to see if there is
any relationship between all the GILES descendants of
William GILES of Monroe County, Tn. Wills, Book C,
Page 168 (Dock, James, Margaret, Reuben, etc)and the
descendants of William GILES born in Ireland who is
the grandfather of the above Calvin GILES. The two
GILES lines appear simultaneously in many Tennessee
areas over and over, but so far as I know, no one has
been able to find a common ancestor for them. I'm
wondering if part of the key might be found in tracing
the relationship between the GILES and PATTERSONs of
Monroe Co. in the mid-to-late 1800s.
Even if the GILES lines are not related, I'd like to
know more about the GILES-PATTERSON marriages in file
#12.
Can anybody help?
Here are some of the mentioned names that have sparked
my curiosity:
1. Mr. & Mrs. Robert "Bob" PATTERSON, parents of Neata
Mae PATTERSON (abt 1908-1928).[Robert, the father,
died 1915.]
2. LN PATTERSON (abt 1882-1952), who helped conduct
Neata Mae's services, and is apparently the minister
L.N. "Newt" PATTERSON whose obit of 1952 is listed in
this same file #12
3. Nancy GILES, wife of Rev. L.N. "Newt" PATTERSON and
mentioned in his obituary file #12.
4. Belle GILES, third wife of Robert PATTERSON, son of
George and Susan (GARREN) PATTERSON, mentioned in a
1934 article on the page.
Thanks for any help or leads. And a profound thanks to
Glenn who's doing all these transcriptions for us.
