JAMES ERNEST ALLEN, 70, of Briceville, died on Saturday, May 25, at the Lake
City Healthcare Center. He was a member of the Second Baptist Church in
Briceville.
He was preceded in death by parents James and Victoria Pratt Allen; sister
Georgia Leach and brother Bill Allen.
He is survived by son Tim Allen of Clinton; grandson Jordan Thomas Allen of
Clinton; sister Hazel Allen of Briceville.
Funeral services were held at the Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Lake City
with funeral services with Rev. Marty Stooksbury officiating. Interment was
in the Leach Cemetery in Lake City.

Arvil Brown
Arvil Brown, 84, of Lake City, died on Friday, May 24, at his residence. He
was a deacon and member of Brown's Flat Baptist Church. He was 32nd degree
Mason of Crystal Lodge #616 in Briceville.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Della Mae Brown; sons J.L. and Dallas
Brown; grandson James Dewayne Brown; sisters Martha Corn, Pearl Phillips,
Ruth Aslinger, Ella White; brothers Bill and George Brown.
He is survived by daughters Shirley Jean Brown of Briceville, Virginia Kay
Elkins of Lake City, Angela Mary Ellen Brown of Briceville, and Barbara Gail
Huskey of Briceville; son Philmore Brown of Lake City; sister Dorothy Dison
of Frost Bottom Community; brother Harce Brown of Bellaire, Ohio.
Funeral services were held Sunday, May 26, at the Brown's Flat Baptist Church
with Rev. Jimmy Lindsay, Rev. Jay Braden and Rev. Jimmy Ray Seiber
officiating. Interment was in the Brown's Flat Church Cemetery.

CAROLYN BOWLIN, 56, of Red Hill, Ky., died Monday, May 20, at Jellico
Community Hospital.
She is survived by one son, Jimmy Bowlin of Cane Creek, Ky.; one daughter,
Kimberly Huddleston of Red Hill; one granddaughter, Katelin Huddleston of Red
Hill; three sisters, Opal Strunk of Jellico, Betty Huddleston of Red Hill and
Minnie Lawson of Toledo, Ohio.
Funeral services were Thursday, May 23, at Harp Funeral Home Chapel with the
Rev. Horace Partin officiating. Burial was on Friday, May 24, at Worley
Cemetery.
Harp Funeral Home of Jellico was in charge of arrangements.

CAROL FOUST CARDEN, 52, of Lake City, died Wednesday, May 22, at the St.
Mary's Medical Center in Knoxville. She was member of the Carroll Hollow
Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by first husband Kenny Martin and father Johnny L.
Foust.
She is survived by husband Leonard Carden of Lake City; son Michael Foust of
Andersonville, Tenn.; grandson John Michael Foust of Andersonville; mother
Carrie Mae Beech Foust of Andersonville; step-daughters Elizabeth Lynn,
Connie Jo and Sandy Jean, all of Michigan.
Funeral services were held at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home with Rev. Benny
Hall, Rev. David Crowe and Rev. Wayne Phillips officiating. Interment was
Saturday, May 25, at the Hillvale Baptist Church Cemetery in Andersonville.

ROSALIA CHADWELL, 67, of Dayton, Ohio, formerly of Jellico, died on Thursday,
May 23, in Dayton, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by parents Floyd Chadwell and Leola (Parker)
Chadwell; brothers Phillip Chadwell and William Paul Chadwell; and sister
Helena Chadwell.
She is survived by brothers James Chadwell of Dayton, Ohio, Georgia Chadwell
of Dayton, Ohio; sisters, Nancy Davis of LaFollette, Jolene Coyt of Jellico,
Mary Moore of Jellico and Wilene Hicks of Jellico.
Funeral services were held Sunday, May 26, at Harp Funeral Home Chapel with
Rev. John Parker officiating. Interment was in the Odd Fellows Cemetery.

RUSSELL ELKINS, 68, of LaFollette, formerly of Williamson, W. Va., died on
Wednesday, May 22, at his home.
He was preceded in death by daughter Authula Mae Elkins; mother Authula
Maynard; stepfather Charles Maynard and sister Garnett Hall.
He is survived by wife Elena Ann Elkins; stepsons Chuck Sensabaugh of
Ellenwood, Ga., and J.A. Sensabaugh of Dayton, Ohio; ex-wife Martha Morgan of
West LaFayette, Ohio; sons Russ K. Elkins of West LaFayette, Ohio, Richard
Elkins of Newark, Ohio, and Todd Elkins; daughter Vickie Dragovich of Warsaw,
Ohio; five grandchildren and one great-granddaughter; brothers William Elkins
of Grove City, Ohio, and Irvin Hensley of Williamson, W. Va.; sisters Marie
Scurlock of Grove City, Ohio, and Juanita Mitchell of Yorkville, Ohio.
Funeral services were held at Weavers Mortuary with Rev. Robert Elkins
officiating. Interment was in the Mt. View Memory Gardens. In lieu of
flowers, the family requests a donation be made in Russell's name to MDL
Scholarship Fund, c/o Concord College Foundation, P.O. Box 1000, Athens, W.
VA 24712.

CHARLES (Chalk) HALCOMB, 76, of Stinking Creek Community, died on Thursday,
May 23, at St. Mary's of Campbell County in LaFollette.
He was preceded in death by wife Jesse James Halcomb; an infant son; grandson
Derrick Campbell; parents Summitt and Flemmie Halcomb; sisters Rosie Ayers,
Evia Douglas, and Cora Ayers.
He is survived by son Charles Anthony Halcomb of Indianapolis; stepson Monroe
Baker of Indianapolis; daughters Eleanor Flathers of Danville, Ind., Judy
Campbell of Stinking Creek; stepdaughter Cindy England of Greenfield,
Indiana; sister Marie Hicks of Stinking Creek; eight grandchildren; 12
great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 25, at Harp Funeral Home Chapel with
Rev. Delmus Bruce officiating. Interment was in the Davis Cemetery.

FAYETTA MILLER, 79, of LaFollette, died on Wednesday, May 22 at her home. She
was a lfielong member of the Glade Springs Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by Luther and Maggie (Shelby) Miller.
She is survived by brother Zeno Miller of LaFollette; sister Imogene Engle of
Knoxville.
Funeral services were held at Cross Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Don
Reynolds officiating. Interment was in the Bakers Forge Cemetery.

CHARLES O. MOORE, 73, of Speedwell, died on Monday, May 27, at Sunridge Care
and Rehab of LaFollette. He attended Freewill Baptist Speedwell and was
employed as a butcher for Shelby's Grocery for 40 years.
He was preceded in death by parents Henry and Mandy (Owens) Moore; brothers
Joseph and Nute Moore and sisters, Lillian Ausmus and Beatrice Childress.
She is survived by wife Marie Wylie Moore of Speedwell; sons James Moore and
Chucky Moore, both of Speedwell; daughters Carolyn Goins of Glade Springs,
Pamela Welch of Winston Salem, N.C.; brother Henry Moore Jr. of LaFollette;
sister Loretta Whitman of Michigan; six grandchildren and four
great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 28, at Cross Chapel with Rev. Jim
Hurst officiating. Interment was in the Wylie Cemetery in Speedwell.

Rev. JOHN B. OVERTON, 80, of Toledo, Ohio, formerly of Jellico, died Sunday,
May 19, at Riverside Mercy Hospital in Toledo. He was a member of Athens
Missionary Baptist Church and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He was preceded in death by parents William and Doxie Mays Overton.
He is survived by his wife, Eudena Faulkner Overton; daughters Mary Katherine
Broyles and Willie Mae Sparks, both of Toledo; five grandchildren and one
great-grandchild; and his sister, Anna Hale of Jellico.
Funeral services were Thursday, May 23, at the Cox & Son Chapel with Rev.
Roger Stanley and Rev. Ellis Hoskins officiating. Interment was in the Lot
Cemetery.

EMMA SUE STAGNOLIA, 53, of LaFollette, died on Monday, May 27 at St. Mary's
Medical Center of Campbell County. She was a member of the Fundamental
Missionary Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Eulis and Pearl Stagnolia of
LaFollette; sister Lois Featherstone of Kokomo, Ind.; brothers Johnnie
Stagnolia of Toledo, Ohio, and Wheeler Stagnolia of Phoenix, Ariz.
She is survived by sisters Oma Walden and Joann Brown of LaFollette, Jean
Pierce of Kokomo, Ind., and Patsy Crawford of Arizona; brother David
Stagnolia of Lawnville, Ill.
Funeral services were held Wednesday at Fundamental Missionary Baptist Church
with Rev. Larry Russell officiating. Interment was in the Woodlawn Cemetery.

FLORENCE TREECE, 67, of Murfreesboro, native of Tazewell, died on Monday, May
20 at NHC in Murfreesboro, Tenn. She was a member of The Church of God.
She was preceded in death by Sam C. and Minnie Pope Mabe; sister Betty Jo
Lindsay and stepsister Bobbie Hurst.
She is survived by husband Earl Treece; daughter Linda Schulz of
Murfreesboro; sisters Mary Lanham of LaFollette and Jean Haynes of
LaFollette; brother Sam Charles Mabe of Monroe, Mich.; half-brother, Dexter
Mabe of Tazewell; half-sisters Sheila Poor of Tazewell and Brenda Ratliff of
W. LaFayette, Ind.; step-brother, Earl Hicks of Tazewell; step-sisters, Flora
Mae Venable of Tazewell and Josephine Musinski of Monroe, Mich.
Funeral services were held Thursday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel with Rev. Tony
White. Interment was in the Evergreen Cemetery.

ETHEL VANN, 88, of LaFollette, died on Sunday, May 26, at St. John-Oakland
Hospital in Madison Heights, Mich. She was a 23-year resident of LaFollette
and a member of the Eastern Sar, and of LaFollette Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by sons John Vann Jr. and Franklin Vann and brother
Clifford Davis.
She is survived by daughters Donna Houk of Sterling Heights, Mich., Betty
Whitted of Rockford, Ohio and Kathleen Burge of Crossville; sister Jess Davis
of Feather Falls, Ca., Hazel White of Monroeville, Ohio, Mary Hayness of Oak
Ridge; Nina Pearl Proctor of LaFollette, Laverne Atchley of Crossville; sons
Fred Vann of Rockford, Ohio; brothers Bobby Davis of El Paso, Texas, Bill
Davis, Charles Davis and John L. Davis; 17 grandchildren, 26
great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Thursday in the Chapel of Martin Wilson Funeral
Home with Rev. Danny King officiating. Interment was held in Sunrise Cemetery.

LAWRENCE WALLS Sr., 69, of Jellico, died on Friday, May 24, at Jellico
Community Hospital. He was a U.S. Army veteran.
He was preceded in death by parents, Edd and Anna Elswick Wells.
He is survived by wife, Connie McCullough Walls of Jellico; son Lawrence
Walls Jr. of Coeur D'Alene, Idaho; and four grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 28, at Cox and Son Chapel with Rev.
Jerry Yancey officiating. Interment was in the Cumberland Memorial Garden,
Corbin, Ky.

KATHERINE LOUISE WATSON, 41, of LaFollette, died on Tuesday, May 21, at Fort
Sanders Regional Medical Center of Knoxville. She was member of the Glade
Springs Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, A.C. and Mildred Grant and by
sister Janet Lynn Grant.
She is survived by husband, David Watson; sons Jason Watson and Adam Watson,
all of LaFollette; brothers Gary Grant of Harlan, Ky., and Sam Grant of
Nashville.
Funeral services were held Friday at Walters Chapel with Rev. LeRoy Braden
officiating. Interment was in the Glade Springs Cemetery.

CARL WARD, 78, of Briceville, died on May 23 at the Methodist Medical Center
in Oak Ridge. He was along standing member and deacon of Tennessee Hollow
Baptist Church and he was a World War II Navy veteran.
He was preceded in death by wife Gen Smiddy Ward; parents, Rev. Lewis and
Stella Ward; sisters Randy Ward Wilson and Verda Ward; and brother Cecil Ward.
He is survived by wife Asilee McGhee Ward of Briceville; daughter Winifred
Dison of Briceville; stepdaughters Georgia Golden of Briceville, Winfrey
Hayes of Briceville, Audrey Tucker of Vasper, Savannah Eagleton of Briceville
and Sue Taylor of Cherry Bottom; stepson, Calvin Craig of Medford; brother
Clifton Ward of Lake City; four great-grandsons; 16 stepgrandchildren and
many stepgreat-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday, May 26, at the Tennessee Hollow Baptist
Church with the Rev. Jeff Hawkins, Rev. Johnny Owens and Rev. Bo Perkins
officiating. Interment was in the Circle Cemetery in Briceville with full
military honors by the Campbell County Honor Guard.
