BUCHANNON, Our Precious KAREN ELAINE THURMAN - age 36, of Clinton has passed
on to life Tuesday, June 25, 2002 at her residence after a courageous fight
against cancer. Karen is the most precious wife of Jimmy Buchannon & most
beloved mother of Crissy Nicole Thurman, Michael James Johnson, all of
Clinton; stepson, Trent Edwin Buchannon of Kingston. Karen is the beloved
daughter of Helen Thurman Roark of Clinton and the late, Harlan D. Thurman;
daughter in law of Imogene Cox & the late, Ted Cox and the late Pack
Buchannon & wife, Lou. Karen is the most loving sister to Phyllis Ballard of
Lake City, the late Tommy Thurman of Norris, Carol Sue Meredith of Knoxville,
Ronnie Thurman of Atlanta, Ga., Cheryl Nolen of Clinton, Lisa Haire of
Melbourne Beach, Florida and Linda Ferguson of Norris. Karen is the beloved
sister in law to Pat Clifton & husband, David of Rockwood, Ellen Morgan &
husband, Mike of Lebanon, Debbie Thurman of Norris, Clayton Meredith of
Knoxville, Kimberly Thurman of Atlanta, Ga., Gary Nolen of Clinton, Daniel
Haire of Melbourne Beach, Fla. and James Ferguson of Norris. Karen is the
beloved aunt of Brenda & Kim Ballard, Tammy Jones, Adam & Becca Joy Thurman,
Candice Huffaker, Isaac Thurman, Shayne & Carrie Bunch, Daniel Thomas, Dalton
Kyran, Tori & Dylan Haire, Tasha Webb, Alex & Austin Ferguson, Bonnie
Crowder, Michelle Kelly & Mike Clifton. Karen will be more than missed by her
many relatives, co-workers & friends at Eagle Bend Mfg., where she had worked
for 13 years, her many friends at Clinch River Baptist Church where she is a
member, PBR & Central View Baptist Church of Knoxville, Lake City Christian
Fellowship & Trinity Chapel of Knoxville. Karen is an inspiration to us all.
She never complained and her healthy sense of humor remained in tack. The
thought of Karen will always make us smile until we are all together again
and her giving compassionate spirit shall live on. The family will receive
friends 6:30- 8:30 p.m. Wednesday June 26, 2002 at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home
in Clinton with funeral service following at 8:30 p.m. in the chapel with
Rev. Tom Byrge officiating. Interment will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at Clinch
River Cemetery. Holley-Gamble Funeral Home of Clinton in charge of all
arrangements.
HESS, BRIAN DAVID - age 18 of Oak Ridge, Tenn., passed away Sunday June 23,
2002 at his home. He loved the outdoors and working on automobiles. He was a
graduate of Oak Ridge High Class of 2002. He is survived by mother, Debra
Verna and step father, Gary of Oak Ridge, Tenn.; father, Eugene Clayton Hess
of LaFollette, Tenn.; 2 brothers, Bradley Hess of Harrogate, Tenn., Kenny
Hess of Oak Ridge, Tenn.; 2 sisters, Brooke Hess of Oak Ridge, Tenn., Casey
Hess of Oak Ridge, Tenn.; grandparents, Henry and Gladys Hamblen of
LaFollette, Tenn.; grandfather, Eugene H. Hess of Saltville, Virginia;
girlfriend, Megan Loy of Clinton, Tenn.; special cousins, Lori Ann Lyles,
Randy Lyles and Shelley Hess; special great aunt and uncle, Lois Jean and
Johnny Baird. Funeral services 2 p.m. Thursday June 27, 2002 at Fincastle
Methodist Church. Burial in Marlow Cemetery. Friends may call from 6-9 p.m.
Wednesday at Calvary Lighthouse Church 110 Atlanta Rd. Oak Ridge, Tenn. Harp
Funeral Home of Jellico, Tenn. in charge of arrangements.

McCOY, STANLEY SR. - age 75, of Somerset, KY, formerly of Briceville, passed
away Wednesday, June 26, 2002 at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in
Somerset, KY. He was born January 7, 1927 in Briceville, TN. He was retired
from the Towe Iron Works of Knoxville. Stanley was a U.S. Army Veteran of
W.W.II. He is preceded in death by: his parents, V.T. and Nettie Childress
McCoy; and wife, Gleanis Beach McCoy. Survivors: Sons, Stanley McCoy, Jr.,
Somerset, KY, Phillip Lynn McCoy, Colorado; daughter, Patricia Gail Kirby,
Louisville, TN; 10 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; 3 brothers; 4
sisters. Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Thursday, June 27, 2002 at the Cox-Martin
Funeral Home. Graveside service 11 a.m. Friday, June 28, 2002 at the Beech
Grove Cemetery, Lake City, TN. Interment will follow the graveside service
Friday, June 28, 2002. Cox-Martin Funeral Home of Lake City in charge of
arrangements.
