FERGUSON, WILLIAM R. "BILL" - age 68, of Claxton,
SMITH, RALPH SAMUEL - age 59, of LaFollette,

FERGUSON, WILLIAM R. "BILL" - age 68, of Claxton, passed away Monday, March
31, 2003, at St. Mary's Medical Center. He was of the Baptist Faith. Army
Veteran of the Korean Conflict. He retired from the Knox County School
Systems. Preceded in death by parents, Ellis E. and Evangeline Ferguson.
Survived by loving wife of 49 years, Ruby Ferguson; son, Curtis Ferguson;
daughter, Debbie Boone; very special grandson, Jason Ferguson; brother and
sister- in-law, Leon and Joann Ferguson of Claxton; sister and
brother-in-law, Delores and Mack Petty of Clinton, and several nieces and
nephews. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Weaver's
Chapel with the service to follow at 8 p.m., Rev. Calvin Braden officiating.
Family and friends will meet at 10:15 a.m. Thursday at Weaver's to proceed to
Woodhaven Memorial Gardens for an 11 a.m. graveside service. Arrangements by
Weaver Funeral Home, "A Tradition of Service Since 1921", 5815 Western Ave.

SMITH, RALPH SAMUEL - age 59, of LaFollette, passed away Monday, March 31,
2003, at St. Mary's Medical Center, Campbell County. He retired after 17
years from the U.S. Army. He was a Lifetime member of the DAV, member of
Campbell Co. Honor Guard and Alder Springs Park CommIttee. Preceded in death
by parents, Dave and Mazzie Schooler Smith and brothers, Charles Edward and
John Newton Smith. Survivors: wife, Nita Smith; sons, Ralph Smith Jr., David
Ray Smith, Jeffery Dewayne Smith, all of LaFollette, Franklin David Smith,
Lake City, Sean Samuel Smith and Brett Stanley Smith, both of LaFollette;
Daughters: Lisa Lynn Lane and Kimberly Kay Smith, both of LaFollette; eight
Grandchildren; brothers, Franklin David Smith of Nashville, Michael Robert
Smith of Dayton, Ohio, John Newton Smith, David Ray Smith and James Smith,
all of Indianapolis, Ind; sisters; Nola Crawford, Margaret Radabaugh and
Evelyn Wetzel, all of W. Carrollton, Ohio, Hazel Nunn of LaFollette; Donna
Boothroyd of Indianapolis, Ind; step mother, Stella Smith of Indianapolis,
Ind. Funeral service 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 2, at Cross Chapel, Rev. Ronnie
Arnold officiating. Interment 11 a.m. Thursday, April 3, at Bakers Forge
Cemetery with Military Honors by the Campbell County Honor Guard. The family
will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, prior to the funeral service at
Cross Funeral Home. Arrangements by Cross Funeral Home.
