AKINS, ANNETTE - age 75 of Knoxville, passed away Saturday, April 28,
2007 at the home of her son and daughter-in-law. She was a member of
the Belmont Heights Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her
husband, Edward G. Akins. Annette is survived by: son, Eddie Akins and
wife Karen of Knoxville; 2 special grandchildren, Heather and Christy
Maples; 3 great grandchildren who were her special angels, Tyler
Maples, Branden Purnell and Halley Anderson; one special nephew, Jimmy

ANDERSON, JUDITH - age 57 of Alcoa, died Saturday, April 28, 2007 at
Blount Memorial Hospital. She was an employee of Wal-Mart at Turkey
Creek and was preceded in death by: her parents, E.W. and Ida Mae
Campbell. She is survived by: her daughter, Kristie Anderson of Alcoa;
grandchildren, John Michael and Christopher Jones; brother and
sister-in-law, Allen and Carol Campbell of Maryville. The family and

BATES, ELLA MAE - age 83, of Rutledge, passed away April 27, 2007, at
St. Mary's Hospital in Knoxville. She was preceded in death by her
husband, Claude Bates; mother, Sarah Maples; father, James Dalton; 2
brothers, Curtis and Frank Dalton; granddaughter, Ruth Elaine Dunn;
great-grandson, Jesse Wayne Dunn; and 2 great-granddaughters. Survivors
include daughters, Ruby Dunn of Ohio, Gracie Osborne of Knoxville, and
Rosemary (Lloyd) Swaney of Rockford; sons, Robert Bates of Morristown,
Claude A. (Linda) Bates of Rockwood, Archie (Bonnie) Bates, and George
(Bonnie Sue) Bates, both of Maynardville; stepson, J.D. Bates of
Morristown; half brother, Archie Dalton of Arkansas; special friend
Bradley Bush; 13 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and 8 great

BRADEN, ROY ELDON - age 74, a resident of Oliver Springs, went home to
be with the Lord Saturday, April 28, 2007 at his home. Mr. Braden was
born April 27, 1933 in Oliver Springs. Living all of his life in Oliver
Springs except for 7 years in Harlan, Kentucky. He worked as a teamster
for ORNL from 1972 until his retirement in 1998. He previously worked
as a coal miner in Harlan, Kentucky and Fork Mountain for 12 years and
at Reeder Chevrolet for 15 years. He was preceded in death by: son,
Dennis Roy Braden; parents, Lewis and Callie Vann Braden; brothers,
Cherrel Edward Braden and Daniel Bluford Braden; sister, Ruby Braden.
Survivors: wife, of 46 years, JoAnn Braden of Oliver Springs;
daughters, Katrine Coppenger and husband David of Oliver Springs,
Rhonda Bass and husband Jeff of Oliver Springs, grandchildren, Charlene
Ford, Erin Worley, Kevin Alexander, Trevor Coppenger, Brittney
Coppenger and Kayla Bass; great grandchildren, Hunter Ford and Rayden
Carroll; sister, Annie Gallaher of Oliver Springs; brothers, Richard
Braden and wife Aliene of Deaborne Heights, MI, Lester Braden of

BRUCE, FLOYD - of Knoxville, departed this life, April 29, 2007 at St.

COUNTISS ROBERT G. - age 78 of Knoxville, passed away Saturday, April
28, 2007 at home. He recently accepted Christ as his savior and
attended Riverdale United Methodist Church. At the age of 14 he went to
play semi pro baseball. He then joined the Air Force and after serving
his country he returned to the community to coach local teams in
baseball, basketball and football. He was a charter member of Riverdale
Saddle Club and The Riverdale Community Club. Preceded in death by:
daughter, Debbie Countiss and infant son, John Wayne Countiss.
Survivors: wife, Jane Countiss; daughters, Claudia Maxwell and husband
Jeff of Knoxville, Susan Harbin and husband Jeff of Morristown; sons,
Robby Countiss and wife Wendy, Darryl Countiss and wife Tammy; 9

HUFF, CHARLES WEAVER - age 77 of Sevierville, passed away Friday, April
27, 2007 at his home. As servant to his country and community, Mr. Huff
was a veteran of the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and
was an educator for many years. He served as principal at Seymour High
School and Sevier County High School and also worked in administration
for the Knox County School System. Mr. Huff was a member of First
Baptist Church in Sevierville and was preceded in death by his parents,
Floyd and Gladys Huff. Survivors: wife, Charlotte Seaton Huff;
daughters and sons-in-law: Joan and John Hatmaker, Amy and Tony Parton;

LAWSON, MARY - age 90 of Bristol, formerly of Sevierville and
Knoxville, passed away early Sunday Morning April 29, 2007 in NHC
Health Care in Bristol, VA after a brief illness. Mary was retired from
AmSouth Bank in Knoxville, a member of Beulah United Methodist Church
in Knoxville where she was an active member, teaching Sunday School
there until her health would no longer allow her to at the age of 89.
Preceding her in death are: her parents, S.V. and Alice (Marshall)
Lawson; brothers, Lewis and Maxwell Lawson; sister, Nell Lawson. She is
survived by: her brother, Charlie Lawson of Bristol, TN; nephew, Chuck

LINGENFELTER, ANITA JUNE (OLIVER) - age 67 of Loudon, went to be with
her Lord and Savior on Sunday April 29, 2007. She was preceded in death

LOCKE, LOUISE OPRISCH - age 88 of Knoxville, a devoted and loving
mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed into eternal rest on
Thursday April 26, 2007 at NHC Farragut. She was a tireless and
faithful member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church for over 60
years, a member of the St. Gerard Guild and the Ladies of Charity.
Louise was a native of Steubenville, Ohio, daughter of the late Victor
and Louise Gehlert Oprisch. She retired from The Kroger Company with
over 25 years of service. Louise was also preceded in death by: her
husband, Bob Locke; son-in-law, Robert Love; brothers, Herman, and
Joseph Oprisch; sisters, Helen Oprisch, Cornelia Alvis and Marie
Bucher. She is survived by her loving and devoted children: daughter,
Vickie L. Love; sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Mary Kay Locke,
Greg and Mary Jane Locke all of Knoxville; her wonderful grandchildren,
Robert Scott Love and wife Morgan, Laura Kandilikas and husband

LOVE, MILDRED - age 79 of Tazewell, was born on May 13, 1927 and passed
away on April 28, 2007 at the St. Mary's Hospice in Knoxville. She
retired from Donlin Sportswear. She owned and operated Love's Outlet
for 23 years until her death. She was the daughter of the late Joe and
Ethel Keller. She was preceded in death by her: parents, Joe and Ethel
Keller; husband, Lee Love; grandson, Derek Moyers; brothers, Lee and
Joe Jr. Keller; sisters, Louella Keller, Novella McDaniel, Winnie
England. She is survived by her: children, Jerry Love and wife Dorothy
of New Tazewell, TN; Dennis Love and wife Betty Jo of Tazewell, TN;
Carol Russell and husband Dale of Dundee, MI; Phyllis Moyers and
husband Jerry of New Tazewell, TN; grandchildren, Jessica Van Huss of

SIMPSON, MARGIE THELMA - was born in Knoxville May 5, 1906 to George W.
Eaton and Ida Sanders Eaton. She passed away early Saturday morning at
Parkwest Hospital a week before her 101st birthday. She was of the
Baptist Faith. Preceded in death by parents, husband, Green Simpson;
son, Dudley Simpson; daughter, Betty Jean Ogle and great-granddaughter,
Jessica Ogle. Survivors: sons, Eugene P. and Richard D. Simpson; 13
grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren and 33 great-great-grandchildren.
Family and friends will meet 1:45 pm Monday at Lynnhurst Cemetery for
graveside service at 2 pm, Pastor Bill Dean officiating. Friends may
call at their convenience Sunday at Mynatt Funeral Home Fountain City.

SLIGER, SONDRA - age 53 of Knoxville, went to be with the Lord on
Tuesday April 24, 2007 in Gulf Shores, Alabama. She was a nurse at West
Haven Medical Clinic for over 20 years, and also spent several years at
the Knoxville Urology Center before retiring. She was a member of
Wallace Memorial Baptist Church and was passionate about photography,
arts and crafts, gardening, writing, and most of all, helping those
around her. As she was blessed with the gift of true selflessness,
Sondra could never pass up the opportunity to help someone in need,
whether it be family or strangers. She was truly an angel on Earth.
Sondra was most content while spending time at the beach, her favorite
place to be. Her enthusiasm for life could not be missed, as she
preferred to live every day as if it were her last. Preceded in death
by: father, Earl Smith Sr. Survived by: mother, Margaret Smith; husband
of 34 years, Ronnie Sliger; daughter, Angela Sliger-Gerou and husband
Duane of Valencia, CA.; son, Brian Sliger, and grandson Alec; sister
and best friend, Sherri Smith-Bartlett and husband Michael of Gulf
Shores, Alabama; brothers, Earl Smith Jr. and wife Ann, Jeff and wife
Missy, and Jerry and wife Linda all of Knoxville; nieces and nephews;
Jessica, Andrew, Matt, Alana, and Annie Smith; close friends; Sarah
Jane Whaley and Lucinda Bowman. Sondra will be dearly missed by those
who knew and loved her. The family will receive friends 6-8 pm Sunday,
April 29, 2007 at Weaver's Chapel with the service to follow at 8 pm,
Rev. Dr. James McCluskey officiating. Family and friends will meet at
10:15 am Monday at Weaver's to proceed to Greenwood Cemetery for a 11

TAYLOR, BETTY LOU MITCHELL - age 76 of Knoxville, TN, passed away
Friday, April 27, 2007 at UT Medical Center. She was born May 15, 1930
in Sheridan, WY to Eva Fern Phillips and Vern Willard Mitchell. She was
preceded in death by: parents; sister, Dorothy Roberts Wilson. She is
survived by: her loving husband of 56 years, Richard Rolland Taylor;
daughters, Diane Carol Taylor Duke (Randy) of Charlotte, NC and Cathy
Ann Taylor of Springerville, AZ; son, Douglas Vern Taylor (Connie) of
Huntsville, AL; grandchildren, Shannon Elizabeth Duke Horton (Jared) of
Charlotte, NC, Trevor Thomas Duke (Mary) of King George, VA, Rachael
Corrine, Patricia Camille and Angela Paige Taylor of Huntsville, AL; a
special cousin, Shannon Masters Meyer (Don) of Omaha, NE. Betty was a
loving, active wife, mother and grandmother who never met a stranger.
She had many friends through her involvement with her church, First
United Methodist Church of Knoxville, where she volunteered weekly, her
golfing friends at Deane Hill and Green Meadow Country Clubs, and her
dear friends of PEO, a philanthropic organization. Her favorite
activities were spending time with family and friends, reading,
traveling, and music. She spent many years locally and nationally with
the Girl Scouts of America. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm
on Tuesday, May 1, 2007 at First United Methodist Church of Knoxville,
followed by a visitation in the Fellowship Hall. The family would like
to express their thanks to the caring staff of UT Medical Center.
