ATCHLEY, GLORIA JEAN - age 80 of Dandridge, TN formerly a long-time resident of Lebanon, TN passed away suddenly Thursday, February 14, 2008 at her home. She was born July 25, 1927 in Forest City, Arkansas the daughter of the late Gene and Inez Weatherby. Preceded in death by husband, Jeff D. Atchley; and sister, Betty Davis. Gloria was an active member of the Dandridge First United Methodist Church where she enjoyed attending and participating in many activities and was past president of the United Methodist Women. BUCHANAN, REBECCA MARY LEQUIRE - 97, born July 16, 1910 in the Prospect Section of Blount County died Feb. 13, 2008 at Blount Memorial Hospital after a short illness. She was preceded in death by her parents Amos Justice LeQuire and Charlotte Hutchenson McHenry LeQuire, her husband of 30 years Edgar Buchanan, and daughter Charlotte Elizabeth Buchanan. Her three children, six grandchildren and five great grandchildren survive her. They are: James Edgar Buchanan and his wife Beverly Tubbs Buchanan (Millersville, MD), Rebecca Mary Snoderly and her husband Dr. Robert Mack Snoderly (Clyde, NC), William Olin Buchanan and his wife Sarah Prentiss Buchanan (Atlanta, GA). Mary spent her early years near Prospect and then Perry's Mill where she attended Porter Academy and Rocky Branch School. When she was 14 she and her family moved to Maryville where she attended Fort Craig School and Everett High School. She met her future husband, Edgar Buchanan, at the Tipton Farm in Chilhowee and they were married in 1928. She worked at Maryville College's Student Union and Cafeteria for 14 years before retiring in 1972. She was a member of Peck Memorial Methodist Church for more than 60 years. She was a noted quilter and a skilled craftsperson. She treasured her East Tennessee and Cades Cove Heritage. She was always the first to give more than she was asked to friend, neighbor or family; her generous and cheerful soul was loved by all. Her funeral service is planned for Satu!

BURGER, GARLAND "POPS" WARREN - departed life on February 13th , 2008 after a 2 year brave battle with lung cancer. Gar was a jack of all trades, a mechanic, a handyman, and the consummate perfectionist. He loved fishing on Fontana, watching football, vacationing at Myrtle Beach, taking cruises, and he took great pride in his home and yard. He retired from Delta Airlines in 1992 with 32 years of service as an aircraft mechanic. He learned his craft in the Navy as a helicopter mechanic. Gar was born in Holmes County, Ohio in 1934 and grew up working on Amish farms where he obtained his outstanding work ethic. He was a member of The Church of the Brethren in his youth. Preceded in death by his parents, Warren Noble & Myrtle Edna Burger of Sugarcreek, Ohio; brothers, Henry, Noble & Dave Burger; sister, Opal all of Ohio. COX, MRS. MARIE - age 85 of Knoxville, formerly of Oakdale passed away Thursday, February 14, 2008 in the Brakebill Nursing Home, Inc. She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Cox; father, John Headrick; mother, Lois Headrick; brother, Johnny Headrick; and step-mother, Lummie Headrick. DELOZIER, RANDALL CLARK - 67, died on February 13, 2008, after suffering a hemorrhagic stroke on February 5, 2008. Randall was born on February 2, 1941, in Nashville, TN, the only child of Ida Bell Hall and Elvan V. DeLozier, who both preceded him in death. After high school, Randall served 4 years in the Air Force, and then attended the University of Tennessee, where he received a degree in Nuclear Engineering and was a member of Tau Beta Pi. He met Fran Pajak at work, in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, in 1972, and they married about two months later in the Knox County Jail. There entire life together has been one adventure after another. He retired in 1993 from Martin Marietta at Oak Ridge National Lab, after a successful career in Nuclear Engineering, Computing, and Systems Engineering & Analysis. He consulted for a few years before accompanying Fran when her job transferred her to Hanford, Washington in 1996. He enjoyed fast cars, his fast boat, firearms, computer and video games!
, and playing chess with his son. He was dedicated to a life-time of learning, taking his last college class in a new computing language just last year. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Mary Frances (Fran) Pajak DeLozier; his son, Price Hall DeLozier; his daughter and son-in- law, RuthAnn DeLozier and Daniel M. Best; and, his infant granddaughter, Ember MaryLynn Best. Ember has been the joy of his life for the past nine months. He is also survived by his bob-tail calico cat, Bobby-cat. GEORGIA CROFT - 85 and long-time Oak Ridger, died Wednesday, February 13, 2008 at Parkwest Medical Center in Knoxville. She was born December 15, 1922 in Morganton, NC, the daughter of Commodore and Mary Gilliam Burleson. Mrs. Bailey graduated from the University of Tennessee with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. She owned and operated Bouquets by Georgia for many years. She was a well-known artist and quilter and displayed her work in many of the local shows. KEEBLER, NANCY L. (ARMSTRONG) - age 69 of Fountain City passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning, February 13, 2008 at St. Mary's Medical Center after a short battle with lung cancer, with her family by her side. Graduated in 1976 from the University of Tennessee with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. She taught for many years at various elementary schools in Knox County. MUSICK, FRED GRAY - age 86, of Knoxville, passed away Tuesday, February 12, 2008 at his residence. He was a Christian and a member of Woodlawn Christian Church. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served in World War II, having volunteered as a private in 1942, and honorably discharged as a captain in 1946. He was a life member of Post 1733 V.F.W. He was a mason and a member of The Shriners Kerbela Temple. Fred practiced law in Knoxville with the law firm of Jenkins and Jenkins from March 1954 until his retirement in 2002. He was also the senior partner at the time of his retirement. He attained degrees from Milligan College, Tennessee, and the University of Tennessee College of Law in Knoxville. He served on the Knox County Board of Education from 1972-1978. He belonged to the Tennessee Bar Association and was honored by them by being named a senior counselor in June 1996. Fred belonged to the Knoxville Bar Association and was elected and served as its president !

RUMERY, GLEN ARTHUR - age 86, died February 12, 2008, at St. Mary's Residential Hospice Glen was born January 5, 1922 in Custer County, Nebraska and was the youngest child of Henry L. Rumery and Blanche Runyan Rumery. He was preceded in death by both parents and his siblings, three sisters and four brothers. He attended a rural one-room school through the eighth grade and was graduated from Mason City High School, Mason City, Nebraska in 1938. He attended the University of Nebraska one year before moving to Knoxville in 1940. He met his wife of 65 years, Margery Moore Rumery, in 1941, and they were married on August 14, 1942. She survives him. He is also survived by two children, Rebecca Rumery and Dr. Christopher Rumery and his wife, Lynne; by grandchildren, Dawn Walters and her husband Bryan, Shay Quillen, Jennifer, Kristin, and Michael Rumery. He attended the University of Tennessee evening school nine years and was graduated with high honors in 1964 from the College of Business Administration with a major in Statistics. He was admitted to two honors societies: Phi Kappa Phi and Beta Gamma Sigma. Glen was a member of the Washington Pike United Methodist Church for 67 years and had taken active positions of leadership in many areas of the church, especially teaching. He also volunteered as a mentor for children at Inskip School and Emerald Youth Foundation. He was Scout Master of Troop 26 at his church for several years. Glen's body was cremated, and the ashes will be interred in a private ceremony at Lynnhurst Cemetery. Woody was born May 12, 1946 in Miami, Florida where he lived through his early teen years and then moved to Gatlinburg to live. He attended Gatlinburg Pittman High School and, after high school, he married Sammy Parton. For the past 43 years, they have lived happily in Gatlinburg with family and friends. Woody has many highlights in his personal career, including founding of Woody's Package Store in the 1970's, serving on the Gatlinburg City Commission from 1981 to 1985 (vice mayor '82-'85), a past Rotarian, and committed supporter of youth athletics. Woody was a devoted father and grandfather and built his life around the principles of honesty and integrity.
