Oscar Leon Pitts, 87, of Mill Creek Road near Troy died 7:50 p.m. Feb. 8, 2002, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City.
Services was to be 1 p.m. today at New Ebenezer Cumberland Presbyterian Church, with the Revs. Jerry Lynch and Richard Stewart officiating. Burial was to follow in the church cemetery.
White & Mahon Funeral Home chapel in Troy was in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers were to be John T. Muse, Paul Mosier, Jim Kendall, Raymond Easterwood, Raymond Wells and Bobby Griffin.
The family requests that memorials be made to New Ebenezer Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Obion County Habitat for Humanity and the Obion County Heart Association.
He was born March 3, 1914, in Hornbeak, son of the late Eli Bascom and Amanda Elizabeth (Britton) Pitts. He married the former Allene Cottrell Feb. 26, 1938. She survives.
He had been a self-employed carpenter and a draftsman for Forcum-Lannom Co.
He was a member of New Ebenezer Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
Survivors also include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Randy and Mary Pitts of Kenton and David and Marion Pitts of Martin; four grandchildren, Matthew Pitts of Kenton, Jonathan Pitts of Knoxville, Tom David Pitts of Chicago and Steven Pitts of Martin; and two great-grandchildren, Tom David Pitts III and Michael Andrew Pitts, both of Chicago.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Lavonia Darnell Sturgis, Pearl Hall and Mildred Cunningham; and seven brothers, Bryan Pitts, Victor Pitts, Robert Pitts, Loyd Pitts, Malcolm Pitts, Omar Pitts and Glen Pitts.
