I am trying to find a connection to the Crawford's and Brown's of the 2nd District of Overton Co. This group of Crawford's came from Botetourt Co., VA. William K. who married Elizabeth Gore in 1819, buried in the Billy Crawford Cemetery. Elizabeth Crawford who married Thomas Hardy, parents of Wm. Hardy and others. Alexander Crawford who is buried in the Clay Springs Cemetery.
According to some 1916 family notes, the sister Margera Crawford married William Brown in VA. and came to Overton County.
In the 1850 census of Overton, page 118B, there is a Margera Brown, age 70, from VA. living in the household of John Brown, age 46 from VA. His wife Edna is 41 and from S.C. (I have her as a Wilson). Children are William, James, Hester, Jane, George, Alexander, Martha, John, Andrew, and Robert.
I believe I can trace Alexander Brown, married to a lady by the name of Cansaddy, and possibly are the parents of Armel Brown. Armel married Alta Phillips and I remember visiting with them as a child.
Can anyone help me with the Brown family?
Thanks.
Mary Rose Crawford Bond
