Hi all. I am a little confused about Rowland FLOWERS. I have a birth year of 1764 for him. However, I also have a Rev, War Pension abstract for him that states he was born in 1746. Forgive me; most of the info I have on the children of James FLOWERS has come from other researchers. What I am trying to do now is to verify the data I have and correct that which is wrong. I have not yet researched this line for myself. I have children of James listed as Rowland 1764, Anthony 1775, Benjamin F. (1788) (Benjamin is my line and I have my line verified to Benjamin), Samuel 1798. Seems like these guys birth years are spread out a lot to all belong to the same parents. Worse yet, if Rowland's Rev. War Pension abstract is correct, it seems especially unlikely that he is a brother of the others. He Pension abstract does state that his father was James; but I have a birthyear of 1743 for James. Obviously there are some errors in this data.

Rowland applied for his pension in July 1834 in Fentress Co., TN. He states he was born in Buckingham Co. VA in 1746 and was the son of a James FLOWERS. Now I see the error in age. The pension abstract is probably wrong on his birthyear. Rowland says he remained in VA after his enlistment. He enlisted for 3 months in 1781. He says that he remained in VA until he was 22 years of age. So it seems to me that his birthyear would be closer to 1764. The abstract was probably transcribed incorrectly. Now he fits more as a child of James whom was supposedly born about 1743 (another source says 1732). At the age of 22, Rowland moved to Overton Co. TN. This would mean he was in Overton Co. about 1788. Of course Overton Co. wasn't created until 1806; but I suppose he could have been in the area that became Overton Co. In October of 1838 in Fentress Co., Ann, his wife applied for his pension stating that he died in Fentress Co. 23 Sept. 1837. She was born 15 March 1762. S!
he states that she married Rowland in Buckingham Co. VA about 1 Dec. 1782. Her maiden name was GARROT.

There was also a William FLOWERS who resided in Smith Co. TN that was a Rev. War Vet. This William was born in Buckingham Co. also. According to Timothy HUDDLESTON, in "Pioneer Families of Pickett Co., TN" he may have been a brother of Rowland. Any know about this?
