James , William Marion Johnson's wife is in dispute. I have her as Mary Poppy Stepp a sister to William (Bill) Stepp. Ite story goes that during the Cicil War, she got word to Bill if something happened to her , he was to take Cooney and raise him.
Another researcher has William Marion being married to a Martha and having three girls. All I can go from is family ties
