I'm in Louisville, KY. Born and raised in Hamilton
County (Chattanooga).

I am searching a James COOK (my ggGfather) line which
begins in TN, migrates to Fulton County GA, and then
comes back to TN into Hamilton County (Chattanooga).
I have no idea yet how the line originally got into TN,
and have no information on James's parents. I have
been trying to search in TN around 1813, and have been
looking in DeKalb and Campbell Counties GA. prior to
1853, as well as Fulton County, GA. after 1853.

My family seems to be attracted to Hamilton County,
but since it didn't exist in 1813, I have been
trying to look in the parent counties of Rhea and
Roane hoping to find James.

Here's what I have so far.

James COOK, b. ca. 1813 in TN, d. between 1852-1860,
in GA. Married Martha (?) b. ca. 1815 in GA.
Children:
1. Gracy M. b. ca. 1837
2. John B. b. ca. 1839
3. William M. b ca. 1842
4. ** David R. b. 1844 (my gGfather)
5. James R. b. ca. 1849
6. Mary E. b. ca. 1852

This family (except for Mary) appears on the 1850
DeKalb County, GA census. They all appear on the 1860
Fulton County, GA census except for James. Martha is
listed as a widow, and Mary E. is a new child. I figure
James died between 1852 and 1860. Everyone except James
was born in GA.

The DOB's and POB's are estimated from census records
except for David R(oss) and family who appear in a
family Bible record with the following information:

COOK, David Ross, b. 15 Apr 1844 in GA., m. Martha A. Brown
13 Nov 1866, d. (?). They had 5 children:
1. Georgia L, b. 24 Jun 1868, m. Charles A. Vaughn
13 Nov 1889, d. 26 Feb 1908.
2. Lemmah (Lemeh), b. 06 May 1872, d. 19 Jul 1875
3. Edwin Ross, b. 10 Mar 1875, d. 11 Aug 1876
4. D.C., b. 10 Nov 1877, d. 10 Jul 1880
**5. Oscar Earl, b. 07 Aug 1883(5) in Fulton Co., GA,
m. Lucy Norma Ziegler 23 Oct 1912 in Chattanooga,
TN, d. 08 Sep 1955 in Chattanooga. They had one
child, Oscar Earl Cook, Jr.

Oscar Earl was my grandfather, Oscar Earl Jr. my father.

Any information, suggestions, hints, etc. would be most
appreciative. Will happily share any and all information
I have.
