Terry,
I too am interested in the Jesse Reed family. A man by that name married
into my Montgomery family in 1823 in Rutherford County Tenn. The bride was
Matilda Montgomery, a sister to Martha Louisa Montgomery who was my
great-great grandmother. It is certain Matilda was born in Mecklenburg Co.
North Carolina and I have some evidence Jesse was born in that state also
but not necessarily the same county. Both Jesse and Matilda died in Shelby
County Illinois and had issue there. I am in touch with an elderly woman
who is one of their great-granddaughters. She has tried to find her
ancestors in Rutherford Tenn but has been unable to connect. She tells me
all the Reeds in Rutherford County seem to decend from the John Nash Reed
family and she has been unable to connect.
Does any of this sound familiar?
Beverly Chamberlain
