There was a pencil factory in Walter Hill. If you were standing on the
bridge over Stones River on Lebanon Pike (Hwy. 231) looking toward the mill and dam
you could see the pencil factory behind them. There was a very tall pencil
beside the mill. My grandfather sold them cedar for their pencils. I have an
old photo that appeared in the Murfreesboro paper in the 70s or so. I can
email you a copy but it may be a couple of weeks before I can get to it. I'm
not at my main computer which is where the photo is. Let me know.
